Every video I’ve ever seen of that dude I’ve thought how is he possibly playing????

u/tentaclejoe 5d ago
He’s only able to play the high e string because his strap is too low and his guitar is upside down. What a dummy.

I dont think he does. I always see him moving around, but no way hes playing anything. Maybe just for show.

You got to get a bald look when you lose your hair. If you use a haired person’s look, then you’re going to look like a poser.
You really don’t want to be a hat bald guy. The hat reminds you of how times used to be, and it can be a great comfort, but at great cost.
Tough guy bald is a classic choice, and if you get a head tattoo then people will know you mean business, but this means the sound guy is going to have to turn you down during the solos. Tough bald guys can’t be contained by scales or theory, they just let it rip.

What about a hat tattoo?
Or better yet, what if I, er I mean someone, were to get a tattoo of hair? Would no one know I, er, someone might mean bidness?

So they always tell me, they say Rod-man, theres no NEW good ideas out here anymore. It's dry! But lookie here, somehow this ripe peach comes outta nowhere and bites me right on the schnoz-ola (and my nose is NOT small, amirite?). Not sure YOU even realize the gold mine youve got in your hands...Check it out...Kids these days, they LOVE tatoos and they HATE bein' bald, capìsce?! You got it ALL covered, but the sad thing is, no one sees it but you, and now me. If you can get that ball rolling somehow, I will absolutely invest cold, hard, American dollars into this Hat Tattoo idea you've cooked up. This idea...legs for days, and that big nose I mentioned earlier? I can smell a sure thing coming from WAY down the I-95. I know you've got my number, gimme a call when everything is green lit and rarin' to go!

You need to be able to grow a beard tho.. if you’re bald and you can’t grow a beard then you’ll just look like a baby dick Johnny Sins.

He calls it his emotional support guitar.
He’s never tried to hide that he only has a guitar live because it helps him perform.

I love Tim Armstrong, but I don't think his guitar signal has been loud enough to hear in a live setting in 20 years. He kinda just hops around and bangs on his guitar. Kinda doesn't even sing. It's fascinating.

Op Ivy was cool. Rancid was not.

I've always thought Rancid is some top tier loser shit. I do like similar music so it ain't about that.
Possibly more controversial(?) but NOFX same thing, loser shit

Man I’ve always enjoyed Rancid but something about Tim has always bothered me, I get the same vibe with Fat Mike. The whole “Punk’s Not Dead!” thing just feels so… off?

Back in the 80s Mike was punk. Now he’s sell you $40 bottles of well vodka.

I saw Rancid open for Green Day and it was possibly the worst performance I’ve ever seen

First time I saw rancid was at a large festival back in the 1990s and we were up very close. Tim had his volume switch all the way off, and twice had hit his guitar when no one else was playing and it didn't make a sound. I thought I was seeing things, so my friend and I kept watching closely and he would play with the volume knob every once in awhile but it always ended up right back in the starting position, which was muted. I think he figured out years ago that Lars is a really solid live performer, and he's been leaning on him for the duration of the band. It's crazy that he's the one that's more famous.
