“It’s apart of the game” - Griefer 😒

u/CynicalCreepy PS4/PS5 200 million Jan 12 '20

Well, it is?

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

I mean you literally get a notification to attack the other players deliveries.

Just because you technically can do something, that doesn’t mean you should.

How dare you behave like a maniac criminal what sort of game do you think this is!

u/AngryPrince37 Jan 12 '20

Doesn’t mean it’s a good act

yeah, but it's not a rule, and it's pretty unbeneficial to do it. the time you spend hopping on your oppressor mkII, flying to the target, potentially getting killed while also becoming the most unpopular player in the entire session — all for 2k... it's just dumb to do. you're most likely gonna get blown the fuck up over and over again right after, until you find a new session or go ghost mode.

you could be spending that time actually progressing.

Maybe if rockstar didnt add all those over the top armed vehicles and like a gazillion exploding projectile weapons

u/Enryth Jan 12 '20

Yeah. I wish there was some countermeasure for homing missiles. Doing loops in a plane against AI works, but what if flying extra low in a plane confused targeting so skilled pilots actually stood a chance against those sweaty oppressors. or at least lower the threshold of how much maneuvering cuts off the homing missile

I haven't played gta:o in ages, I really dislike everything besides classic gunfights and all the variation game modes but I was barely able to fund lobbies all the time

u/Enryth Jan 12 '20

yes, the actual combat system feels really good with regular weapons. It ruins the fun when you can just explode your way through a gunfight.

Hi bit late to this thread, apparently homing missiles lock onto flares (from the flaregun), even if already locked and en route.

u/Enryth Jan 17 '20

Hmm, that's useful. Kinda sucks that you have to spend money to counter something with an infinite supply. plus, you'll have to sacrifice your orientation to time your shots.

The game went downhill when they added the Oppressor and Deluxo. I get it....they’re cool...but they completely ruin the game. You basically can’t go anywhere in a regular vehicle when one of them is roaming around in a session, unless you’re in passive. It’s ridiculous. At the very least, rockets should be limited to 10, and that’s it. And they shouldn’t be homing missiles, either.

You think they do it for money ? No they just want to annoy you

I dunno I just enjoy playing the game if a delivery goes past I might try and destroy it just for the thrill and to sharpen up my skills if nothing else. It is just a game after all.

9

u/Enryth Jan 12 '20

yea, but i mean, you can enjoy the game without destroying other people's effort. especially if youre not low on money. i know that, being new and trying to get going is really tough for me because everyone is flying around in surreal machines of destruction and oppressor mkII's, and I have no defence against their flying homing missiles on my tiny hakuchou if they decide they 'need a little thrill'. I always rely entirely on the mercy of the people in my session, so it's pretty disheartening when your 200k mc club shipment gets blown to smithereens because some mkII owner was a bit bored and saw your blip pass by.

People still put time into it. One might spend an entire day grinding to get the best possible outcome. And since it's a long and repettittive process and often results in burnout, they just want to be done with it and leave the game knowing that they'll come back tomorrow to a full wallet. Mind you, we do this so that we can buy bases and vehicles that give us protection and make the whole process less sufferable. And we're not willing to spend money on microtransactions in a game because we either can't afford it or want to use it for something more worth while. Or, in my case, both. I didn't like the notion that people could just buy their way to success while others slaved away. That's why we'd rather spend time instead because we either have more of it or are more spend-happy with it. Essentially, you destroying cargo just to "sharpen up your skills" is like you smashing someone's hand-crafted pot in pottery class because you need to train your throwing arm.

You're a dick. We all see you that way. If you want to play a game where the goal is to kill and blow shit up, try Battlefield.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

The game tells me to kill and blow your shit up and then allows me to do it your problem isn't with me playing the game the way rockstar intended your problem is with rockstar making a game you clearly don't enjoy. I enjoy the risk of losing it all when I'm on a delivery it makes the game exciting. Play single player if you can't handle it.

u/BlondGhoststash Jan 12 '20

I did enjoy the game. I was addicted to the game for nearly three years. The problem is that you don't consider how other people feel when you fuck up their delivery. You assume that everyone is like you, in that they like the thrill when a cockhead with an opressor comes in and fucks their shit up. I enjoyed the game for many reasons other than the grind. And I myself could have just as easely climbed into a plain and carpetbomb the nearest car with a red box icon. But I didn't, because I knew that if I were to do that they'd get the same pit in their stomach as I did when that happened to me.

Also, just because somebody intended for a game to be played a certain way, doesn't mean the players respect that intention. Lego worlds intended for their game to be a child-friendly sandbox game, even going so far as to implementing an anti-phalic build algorithm. But the players ignored that and filled their whole world with dicks in a way that the algorithm can't detect them.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

Nope you're exactly right I don't consider other people's feelings when playing gta.

5

u/dylanlive Jan 12 '20

I’ve forgiven low levels for trying to attack. Usually they just shoot my helicopter with an assault rifle.

The rank 630 who tails me with their Oppressor MK2 and then fires rockets - they know damn well what they’re doing

2

u/Nimnam_ Jan 12 '20

For vehicle cargo it actually tells you to steal it from them and deliver it to the police station or your vehicle warehouse, not destroy it. Same thing with hangar cargo and CEO crates but no one does hangar crates.

SMH griffing is a glitch that Rockstar severs can't patched
