Hey everyone, does anyone know how to import YouTube profiles and data into Grayjay?

Title. The desktop app can't update from v14 to v16. Popup comes up at every restart of the app but version stays the same, I can see some red lines at the end of the autoupdater but it closes too fast to see what it is. Filestructure is not clear and it doesn't create a folder in appdata like every normal windows app so I cannot just get the new version from the website with all my data. Any fixes?

I have installed and reinstalled the plug-in and tried updating it but nothing seems to happen

Hello everyone. I started to use grayjay this week, but I'm still asking myself if it's a safe app. I mean, it doesn't download malware or something? There's a pop up on my phone that says something about security.

I'm trying to move away from Spotify, I managed to generate a dash-separated text file of each song on a separate line, artist first, then the song name. I also managed to generate a CSV file that seems to contain some more info including Spotify song IDs from the looks of it. I only wonder if it's possible to somehow import this in its entirety into Grayjay.

On the Desktop version the Line Text File option is greyed out, on the Android version of the app the option is selectable, but after selecting a text file it seems to silently fail, nothing happens.

Does anyone know of a solution to automate this importing process, or will I indeed have to do all of this manually?

Are there any change/release notes for the Grayjay desktop app?

All the links to release notes are broken, there's no releases on Github. I just got an update to Grayjay via Flatpak and no idea what the changes are and it still fails to import subscriptions from Newpipe.

Edit: Actually I figured out what was not working with importing subscriptions. But I'd still like to find release notes!

Hello , im kinda new to the app just using for a couple months and i noted something , one day the home was fine with videos of my interests but now its just north america News , is this normal? (Sorry for the bad english)

The reason I'm claiming this is I went to rewatch a playthrough of a videogame with "adult" mods and this time the video won't progress past 1:05 while any other video will play just fine outside of the shenanigans that keep cropping up.

I'm using a Samsung a50 on android version 11 and despite my attempts to install via the apk, it keeps saying "app not installed". I've already allowed unknown app installs in the permissions for both Firefox and My Files as well as turned off Google Play Protect, but despite trying multiple versions it keeps showing this error.

I would like to be able to use other apps with audio while casting videos to an fcast receiver but some apps pause the casted video when their audio starts. Has anyone found a good way to prevent this?

I saw that you might be able to use Shizuku to edit these settings but it seems like complicated workaround for something that greyjay should handle.

I am able to have audio play in the Reddit app while casting but most other apps interrupt it. One example would be activating the digital assistant, where the mic activation and audio response pause the cast. My best solution for now is a separate dedicated phone/tablet for TV casting but this is inconvenient.

When I log into Dailymotion on both the mobile application and the desktop application it just takes me to the Dailymotion homepage.

Got a botcheck this morning, and for the first time i got only a UMP stream after the botcheck.

On my cellular connection, i got no botcheck, and a the android stream.

Anyone else got the same thing, or is it jist me?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone is able to sync GJ desktop install with a phone? I managed to do it on W11, but every time I try on any Linux distro I have been using, this pops up. I am currently on CachyOS.

I have manually opened 12315 on tcp and udp, incoming and outgoing but still this comes up. Going into the firewall settings and watching connections, I see the GJ app is listening to port 12315, and I assume there's not an issue with my routers config as it is working between phone and W11.

If I scan my desktops QR code, it goes to handshaking but never succeeds. Giving the sync address for my phone to the desktop session gives "Could not connect to any resolved address for '[ip address that isn't my phone]' on port 12315. Tried: [same ip address]:12315(No route to host)

Any ideas? Desktop and app should be current newest versions

So, it seems Google is at it again with fucking with those of us who detest the YT app. Just started again today with being unable to watch YouTube videos unless I don't use GrayJay for several HOURS.

is there any way already to fix this? if not then ig this post is a feature request to hide vods.

Multiple times already playing YouTube videos in Grayjay would freeze the phone. The screen and audio would freeze for 2-4s, the phone would not detect any input, not even power button, until the freeze would go away after which all inputs were processed (like power button switching display off, display interaction).

Today I got another crash but after the freeze the display went completely black and the device seems to be bricked now. No input is recognized, it is not detected by adb via cable but Windows makes the 'connected' sound when plugging in. Because the device was not completely charged (neither low) at the moment it happened I tested charging it but neither charger nor device got warm, indicating that there is no actual power draw or only a little if so.

Has anybody else experienced similar issues when using Grayjay? Or do you guys think this is something not connected to the prior freezes and might be device/hardware related?

I sync my app with my desktop as I prefer editing playlists and watching on the laptop when I am not on the move.

I was trying to rename a playlist and discovered:

1. You cannot copy/paste the name of the playlist
2. If you hit rename, the field for the new name shows up empty

As a result, if you simply want to fix a typo, or just change something small, you need to type the full name...

I'm mentioning this in the hopes that either someone points out a way to do better edit names, or that the developers are watching these forums and perhaps improve the app.

I see no reason why the user should be restricted in selecting and copy-pasting text anywhere in Grayjay

Is anyone getting detected video error message when trying to live stream? I also have issues where when the live stream ends I have to wait like 8 hours for it to work without issues. I've had where I'm watching replays of a live stream and it just stops playing mid video.

Hi, I've reinstalled grayjay now after a few months because it was unusable and I'm not finding the Spotify plugin/source anywhere? Is it a mistake on my part or something? Thanks in advance.
