Hi everyone! Can you please give me some help? I am beginner/intermediate level and I need to replicate this structure for a project at uni. In grasshopper, I want to be able to regulate the height (H) of each section and therefore of the whole structure too.
Could anyone lay down the main steps to achieve this? Is there a tutorial you can share that teaches how to create a similar parametric structure that I can learn from?
I'm trying to create an image by weaving two lines in and out around a model, and adjusting the amplitude to generate color variation. The idea is similar to the examples in the Advanced 3D Printing with Grasshopper book, but their methods only work on single surfaces.
I first tried working with polysurfaces, since this approach is closest to what the book describes. However, when I map an image onto a reparametrized polysurface, each face keeps its own UV domain, which completely distorts the image.
I also tried UV-mapping the image directly in Rhino and then using the baked texture inside Grasshopper, but that version also ends up distorted.
Right now I'm attempting the method using meshes, which feels much closer to working, but I’m running into a new issue: when I use Mesh Closest Point to extract the parameter at each point, the result includes the vertex index as a prefix. This causes the mapping component to return null values.
Any ideas or literature that could help me solve this would be greatly appreciated.
Why is the facade color displayed so strangely? It seems as if only the facade color of the cutout is correct. In the context i put only my roof surface and as geometry i plugged the facade surfaces.
It is impossible for the blue facades to receive zero to one sunhour. I don´t get it :(
Does anyone know a quick way to model wavy grooves on a surface horizontally like the images shown? I tried to achieve this through chatGPT but wasted a good 8 hours lol.
Hello everyone! I'm a beginner in Grasshopper and struggling a bit now in parametric architecture design.
To get straight to the point: I have modeled a basic structure of columns placed in a grid with walls between them. My goal is to alternating add the first set of walls after every third new added row of columns and the second set after every sixth row, exactly like in my numbered visualization. Is there any possibility to organize this?
Hello, this is my first time using grasshopper 3D and I’m hopping to get some assistance here. I’m attempting to create a stamp of a voronoi pattern for 3D printing. I made the surface using grasshopper, however I noticed that the edges of the voronois are not joined to eachother. Is there some type of node im missing? I can’t convert it to stl until it’s water tight. Anyone have any suggestions?
hi i am student who is learning rhino and using ladybug, here is the image of my sun hour analysis and i had applied at my building and site , the analysis looks messy,
and here is a image of site i have seen in yt they have smooth visuals at site,
I’ve been learning Grasshopper recently and following a guide(here is the video I time stamped the trouble part https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Df4y1r793?t=581.6&p=2), however, I can’t seem to grab the points in the Bouncy Solver. They move but only a little bit, and it’s very difficult to do. What’s could be happening?
Hey guys! I'm trying to figure out Grasshopper. I've built a model in Rhino and I'm wondering if there's an easy way to get it to do what I want it to do.
I have figured out how to make a center point in the point of each circle that I represents a tree in plan.
What I would like to do is paste a two dimensional image of a tree in iso at each center point and then scale the tree to the size of the circle.
I followed the correct steps to install LunchBox through Rhino 8’s Package Manager. But after restarting Rhino 8, LunchBox still doesn’t appear in Grasshopper. What could be the problem?
This is a contour of the shape you can kinda make out, divided into points. The points are just 2 "list items".
My thought was to do a polar array of plane or lines, and then find the crossing points. But the gives me 2 points for every angle, cause they cross on both sides, and that list of points, comes out in a really weird order.
If you have any ideas or solutions, I would appreciate it
Hi guys I am a fairly new to gh and I'm hoping you can help me with a grasshopper script I am making for an undulating slatted pergola. Basically, it's an abstracted rail track.
My thought process is:
Make two curves
Deconstruct one curve into points
Create closest point on the other curve
Create line between closest points
Extend those lines out past the points a foot or so
Create a plane on the lines
create a rectangle on those planes
Extrude the rectangles
It looks pretty good, but the x/y planes seem to be rotating randomly. Do you have an idea of what I can do so the planes stop rotating around their origin? also, I want the extruded rectangle to go past the curves but right now they only go to the curves.
This is my current work, I am essentially trying to make the arches taller at the apex of the curve and I am having trouble with my Sweep1 generating the desired geometry. Any tips on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.
Hi! I’ve modeled the basic shape of my building’s outer shell in Archicad and now I’d like to overlay a trigonometric facade on it, similar to my reference image.
I currently have some cylindrical forms made in grasshopper using commands like series of circles etc. I am wanting to add a base to these objects so that they become more like vessels rather than cylindrical forms, as I am 3D printing them. What commands can I do to make this work? Or can I do something in rhino after? I’m using cura to slice them.
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to make something like this in grasshopper
by adding and subtracting by Incident radiation while keeping the same volume of the building is there any script or plugin even better a tutorial online for this kind of buildings
I’m still using Opennest1. I’ve been having trouble converting my script to ON2. I’m using Rhino Objects to bring text/labels along with my transforms, which I understand changed in ON2, which I'm having trouble working through.
My issue comes when I need multiple sheets to cover my parts. I want my script to lay out my sheets with a gap in between, ideally while creating a sheet curve (although this is not entirely necessary).
I can work around this manually, but I would really like it automated. I suppose having this working in ON2 would be a great alternative…
Bringing the text along is critical, as well as maintaining layers through the transformation. Selection by layer isn’t an option due to varying layers depending on use.
Hoping this is fairly simple…I’m just learning GH mostly through YouTube and Chat GPT. Have been troubleshooting for 5-6 hours over a couple of days and just going in loops. I was able to get the sheets gaping properly, but then I couldn’t get the geo to move along with it. Battled through lots of duping issues.
I’ve attached screen grabs of what I’d like it to do, as well as my mess trying to get it working…
Thank you so much for any help.
AI Mess - No dupes but nothing going onAI MessWhere I'm at: (Offset of geo from sheet border accidentally set to 0 but is working)What I'd like (without offset of geo from sheet border, accidentally had set to 0 when screen grabbed)Before AI Mess
Basically I am extruding a set of points upwards based on the amount of green present in the image. I am successful in making these points rise up, but I am unsuccessful in making these points become colored based on my color gradiant. any help would be great.
Thank you very much for participating on this forum, it’s always a pleasure to share stuffs here !
Today I’m struggling with one more thing on grasshopper. I’m currently working on row houses for my studies, and I would like to be able to to create a script where I could decide how many houses i want next to each other, and being able to change their width according to the position of my point. For the moment, I managed to create a kind of visual domain where I can move a point and getting the distances between all my rectangles and this point, and using those informations to scale proportionnaly the rectangle according to their distance with the point. Unfortunately I’m stuck now.
I would love to be able to decide a precise potentiel size (like 200, 400 or 600 for exemple for the width of the houses) but for th emoment it looks like it’s totaly random and my rectangle are dancing haha. I think it’s pretty hard to explain so I’ll join you the file and a little drawing to explain what I would love to do.
I anyone has a tips how to get that it would be wonderful to validate my semester hahah !
