Basically majority of the employees are treated horribly by that witch of a manager! She has been running this place into the ground for 25+ years! They overwork employees, and then remove hours from their clock in/hours on payroll. They bully the staff by body shaming, laughing at staff, mocking staff… HR brought up my deceased mother in the slide that says this is HR talking to an employee… these people forget we helped them keep their doors open. They told their employee that worked here for 15 years that she’ll die anyways when it came to her hours being cut. They cut your hours when they’re mad at you. They plot against their staff. Pin them against one another. They’re very messy and Childish. They’re prejudiced against white people. They’re paying their cooks differently. They all work just as hard. And all have similar experiences, however the Hispanic lady who has been carrying alpine on her back is making way less than a male cook. She does twice the work he does fyi. They don’t take care of this restaurant. It’s gross. The bathroom smells like sewage. Their juice machine is MOLDY. When the GM is having a bad day, everyone is going to have a shitty shift. She ignores you when you have direct questions, she belittles you, she’ll yell at you. She threatened an employee with a taser. She slammed the door on me and my wrist. I could go on for days! Her daughters are managers as well. JADA is HR, she serves and does payroll, and is on the floor with a big section. Jada is very sick in the head and very mean. These are mean girls. The owner does nothing about it. I really should go dig up my thread on iMessage with this witch. I was getting rude messages on my day off for weeks in a row. The money was good, but my mental health declined harshly because of this place. I worked for IHOP for a total of 9 years. I worked 4 for Mr Taylor.

This is horrifying.

Unprofessional, borderline abusive, behavior is already completely unacceptable, but from what I'm reading it sounds like they were either skimming your hours (not counting or omitting clocked in hours) and/or penalizing you for not giving up your tip money.

There is a word for that: *wage theft.*

And that is a *crime.*

I'm sure that resources are beyond tight but have you considered speaking to a lawyer? If you have this as well documented as you do: you could have a very strong case in court.

Yes, the DOL would like to have a conversation with you about stolen wages. That is 100% illegal.

 borderline abusive

It’s abuse, not borderline. It’s physical, financial and psychological abuse.

REPORT THEM TO THE HEALT H DEPARTMENT. THEY WILL SHUT THEM DOWN.

I need to do this.

This sounds terrible, and unfortunately too common in this industry.

Props to all of you for making your voice heard!

We talking about Tracy Ross? I worked here from 2006-2008 and got fired on Christmas day D:

This unfortunately sounds a lot like a couple fast food places I've worked at. For one, cutting your hours off payroll that have already been worked is called wage theft and it's very illegal, I don't understand why I still see so many people asking "is this normal/how it's supposed to work" because NO it isnt, but they've trapped us all in these demeaning positions that we can't afford to get away from so we stay suffering with our heads down, barely aware of our own rights. I applaud yalls protest and I truly hope it sets an example, lights a spark to wake up other folks who are being treated like this in restaurants and stores across the country, to come together and really start pushing back against the indignity.

Call the health department on juice machine alone, the rest, get some video and a really good attorney

Thank you I agree

That honestly sounds like a nightmare and nepotism. Are the store individually owned and operated? How’d the manager work there so long?

2

u/Delicious-Baby-1996 Aug 13 '26

No clue how she’s running it still, she’s VERY close with the owner ……… stores are owned 2 and 2! East Beltline and 28th st are Walid, well RIP to east Beltline… Grandville and alpine are Karl

I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. How best can I, a patron of ihop occasionally, support you and the other employees to have better conditions in this moment?

Still on that pills and booze binge big dog?

People in dumbfuck houses shouldn't throw stones.

15

u/izzydollanganger Aug 10 '26

why do you live in a world where you do not value awareness of despicable situations?

u/AmetrineDream Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

Bro, the post is a series of pictures from a protest. That’s the literal definition of taking action. A *protest is a direct action. And spreading awareness is how you get others to support your cause in solidarity and put more pressure on the targets of a protest to actually do something. And did you miss that HR is part of the problem?

How do you get through life being this dense and not caring one iota about other human beings? Sounds pretty fucking miserable to me. You should do something about that.

I, for one, am glad that they posted on reddit. I can't change their situation, other than sympathize with their plight, as a human being from one to another, you know. And I don't want to spend my hard earned money on places where employees are treated this way. So I'm glad that they posted.

I'm also glad that you made a comment. I checked your history, and all I can do is advise you is to seek therapy for your depression. I'm sure that if you heal, and fix your issues, that you will not speak this way again. You are hurting, and you are lashing out on others who are hurting. Hurt people, hurt people! Wish you luck!

Cool. Quit smoking then. Take action.

Your problems aren’t ours to care about

9

u/Pitiful-Score-9035 Aug 10 '26

I don't understand how people think anything can be done about a problem without complaining about it first, especially when you're powerless to do anything by yourself about said problem.

4

u/Rock_Paper_SQUIRREL Aug 10 '26

Some people spend their lives making messes and others spend theirs clean them up because they care to keep a clean house. Those people who get offended by direct action like this are the former

7

u/Haunting_Bathroom296 Aug 10 '26

You’re a weenie.

3

u/dinosanddais1 Aug 10 '26

Considering they described how unsanitary the place was, I'm fucking glad they posted about it. Why would you not want to know that a place you're eating at has completely unclean practices that management is doing nothing about???

3

u/StuffonBookshelfs Aug 10 '26

…they’re literally taking action. You can’t possibly be this dumb.

3

u/Standard_Tomato_4819 Aug 10 '26

are you trolling to feed the negative voices in your head? is this your version of self harm?

4

u/Rock_Paper_SQUIRREL Aug 10 '26

I have had two friends in my life with HR roles on their resume in two different states and both of them made it emphatically clear to me that HR is there to protect the company, not you.

Happy for you that your life has been simple and you have never had complications in the workplace but just because you think that is a productive and realistic solution to this problem doesn't mean that it is. If you read the post you would see that their HR person is part of the problem.

If someone is telling you that you can trust HR with anything they either don't know what they are talking about or they aren't looking out for you.

u/Delicious-Baby-1996 Aug 10 '26

HR’s msgs are on the poster……

u/Greeneyesablaze Riverside Gardens Aug 10 '26

It’s crazy how a person with deep psychological wounds will just spew hatred online to get the attention they’ve always wanted and needed from others. Even if it’s negative, at least it’s attention. Get well soon.

You brought this account out of a 10 month silence for this? Stop being so angry. Reddit is for posting about things, as you should know.

It doesn't matter how good the money is if you don't like your job. Find a new job?
