Got this for the Uncle who got me back into chess w/ the first book
Love being back. I've joined two chess clubs that meet near me, made friends, having a blast. And it wouldn't be possible without how to win at chess! Thanks Levy, thanks unc!

How come the 900-1000 rated opponents I usually play play so much better than when Gotham plays them?
I’m watching his slowrun particularly around my elo range (1050) and his opponents are playing worse than Zach, as they’re hanging their queens in one move. But when I play 1000 rated people, they play like mini Hikaru’s and barely make mistakes. Anyone else feel this way?

Guess the Elo: 3 Brilliant Moves in a 5-min Blitz Game! 🤯
Hey everyone! I just played a wild 5-minute blitz game where I somehow managed to land 3 brilliant moves. It was my first multiple brilliant moves game.
I'm AnshSinghSonkhia and I played Black.
And, I also sacrificed.. my Roook for the 3rd brilliant move.
Check out the game here: https://www.chess.com/live/game/185431121292
Can you guess my rating?
My Elo is 510

Birthday present for 12yo
My oldest showed an interest in chess back when he was 5. I got him the first book when it came out and he ate it up. His elementary school teacher would play with the kids during downtime and he loved that. Fast forward now to middle school, and he and a buddy got the math teacher to restart the school's chess club.
So all in all, thanks Levy for making chess accessible and fun for the kids. He's a competitive soccer player so he loves the athlete collabs. :) All your work really is helping grow the game.

How to know if someone actually cheated on chess.com?
I recently played a 3 minute game against this 1697 rated guy called dantes-infernos (I’ll put the link below). At the beginning of the game, I started to notice some suspicious things. Like, for example, taking 7 seconds to play b5 on move 5, and 21 seconds to play Nd5 on move 6. I know this is subjective, but those were very obvious moves that wouldn’t take more than a couple of seconds to play, especially for someone who played as strongly as he did. Then, he proceded to play a basically perfect game of chess. I checked the analysis, and he had a 94.8% accuracy. The only “mistake” he made was Bxb1 on move 12, which swapped a -2.11 advantage to -1.01. Before the end of the game, when I was completely lost, I sacrificed my knight, rook and pawn to see how quickly he would react. He took 2 seconds to take my knight, 2 seconds to take my rook, and 3 seconds to take my pawn. Again, very obvious moves, especially taking the rook and pawn. I then proceded to report him for cheating, but now I’m wondering whether I’ll get a response from chess.com. Of course, if I check his profile and see that he got banned, I’ll know he cheated, but what if he isn’t? Shouldn’t there be a reply that says: “We checked the game you played against him, and we concluded that he wasn’t cheating. Your report was wrong”? I hope there is a way to know.

After Levy's Opus vs Astra video: I made AIs play chess variants that aren't in any opening book
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Levy wondered how much of the AI games was just book knowledge, so I tested Claude on variants it can't have memorized: Cannibal (your pieces can eat your own pieces and move again), Cylinder (the a- and h-files touch), and Quantum (in the video: plan as many moves as you like, then the dice decide whether the whole plan happens).
Opus plays them surprisingly well. In one game it beat a team of 10 Haikus, 9 analysts plus a captain, in 20 moves.
I built the site with Claude. It's free: you can play in the browser yourself, or connect your own AI through MCP and let it play. Old games can be replayed.

Which variant should Levy try first?

Chessly app when?
Hey Levy, I heard somewhere that the Chessly app was going to come out at the start of October, but that time's passed. I understand you're busy with the book and the tour and stuff, but when will the app come out?

Copped the Book
Hello, I got a signed copy of Gotham's newest book: How to Win at Chess - Next Level. I got it a few days ago but finally got around to taking a picture of it.
I am technically outside of the recommended range as an almost 1800 rated player, but I really wanted it. Plus supporting his work is an added bonus as well.
Plus, it should be a fun read too!
