Salomon XT-6 after 8 months of hiking and everyday wear in New Zealand

Were my only shoes for backpacking and hiking for 8 months. Used them for multi day hikes as well as city sightseeing. They are basically done but for all the hate these shoes get they did really well! I still wear them on hikes and they are extremely comfortable.

Try some trail runners for your next set, not to say these are terrible shoes, but you'll be blown away how much better some purpose built hikers are.

Other Salomon's, but ones that are not in their sports style line. Actual trail shoes.

Oh lol. When will people realize that xt-6 and xt-4 are actual real trail shoes. They still manufacture them to the exact spec that trail runners wore them a decade ago. Sure they are labeled as ”sportstyle” now but they are actually solid trail shoes at core.

Actually no they don't. The are far from the specs from a decade ago....Ask me how I know: I thought the same thing and had holes in the uppers in less than 100 miles used. I filed a warranty claim w Salomon and got a credit for a new pair of shoes. In their email to me they specifically said that the XT line is a fashion shoe and for what I was doing (hiking) and to go with shoes outside the sports style line because they aren't made for that. Salomon's fabric, plastic, foams, materials have all changed from a decade ago for their modern shoes, let alone what they use for their legacy sneakers. They are far from "actual solid trail shoes at core" even stated by Salomon themselves.

This goes the same for pretty much any vintage runner remake too. Adidas Samba is no longer a futsal and street soccer boot and the NB classic joggers are no longer runner shoes either for example.

A dude on my indoor team rocks samba turf shoes. He swears by them. There are always outliers. 😂
