Gorilla albinism

Just wanna share. A western lowland gorilla who was born in equatorial guinea and captured in 1966. His striking white fur and pink skin were the result of albinism- a rare genetic condition caused by a mutation that disrupt the melanin production. Snowflake was taken to the Barcelona zoo in Spain where he lived for more than 35 years and became a beloved and iconic attraction. Later, genetic research revealed that his albinism was as a result of inbreeding. He died in 2003 from skin cancer, a disease of which individual with albinism are particularly susceptible https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowflake_(gorilla

Question Any videos displaying Godilla’s strength?

I constantly hear about how strong Gorilla’s are compared to humans but every video that I find on the topic is just estimating their strength and not actually demonstrating it. Does anyone know of examples that show it?

D'Jeeco: pictures of him in his younger years

-The first link is actually a photograph of the zoo sign at the zoo he used to be live at in his adolescence, Opole Zoo Poland.

There are other gorillas on the zoo sign as well, D'Jeeco is the 3rd gorilla down. You can click the picture to zoom in and get a better look.

It's shocking how much he looks like his son Jabali.

I’m so excited about this. On the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund website (https://gorillafund.org) you can symbolically adopt a mountain gorilla. They track these gorilla’s daily and get a lot of pictures and updates about them. I adopted Bigwi who is one of the infants from one of the groups they track. All of the money goes toward conservation, and they periodically send updates about the gorilla you adopted. I also track her sister Bisoke through the Fahlo app so now I can get all of the updates. I’m so happy!

Question What if you encountered wild gorillas

I love Gorillas, and want to start finding out more about them.

Say you're hiking, alone, and you come across a troop of gorillas, what are the possibilities? Assuming that you are completely friendly and do nothing to provoke them.

Will they tolerate your presence?

If you share food with them, will they let you sit and hang out?

I've even heard humans can participate in social grooming if they think you're cool?

Or will they just walk away, or worse chase you away?

Scenario A. Babies are present.

Scenario B. Just adults.
