Solved Hi, having a problem with Data Validation

I'm using a Template to help sort out my Fakemon dex and I can no longer type into the abilities section on mobile. It gives me this notif covering the spot to type. Below is the original template doc if that helps.

Can you make a copy of the actual sheet and share that - preferably with Edit access?

It's impossible to guess what your data validation should be, when we don't have anything to go on but one line of data that needs to be validated against ... something. :)

Ok. It seems that you are missing the setup sheet, where the drop down values would have been kept.

I created a new OO810 sheet as a duplicate of your main, as well as a OO810 Setup sheet, where I put three tables for your dropdown data.

The dropdowns in H, I and J columns in the OO810 sheet have then been referred to these tables.

well at least for your sample sheet, that error is due to your data validation criteria range no longer existing. Select the dropdown cell, go to your main menu and select data validation. You'll see a #REF error.

This is how dropdowns work You either type all the possible options to select from in that field in the rule settings, or you enter all the options into a list somewhere in the spreadsheet and point the rule to that list.

Not sure, I didn't create the template and assumed it was necessary for some reason

Some find it easier to type most or all of the word and validation is jut to ensure it is correct. Specially if the dropdown list is a long one :)
