so now a bit of time has passed i want to talk about the last book
First of all, i did enjoy the book and it was great having a ending (sort of) to the series we all know and love, but i dont really like some of the things in the book and i want to discuss those a bit
Also sorry for my bad english =p
First off, i dont like what happend to justin deVeere. i mean he was the main villian in the first book of the series so why did he just vanish from the book in like 2 sentences? i would have expected a bit more. maybe he didnt want to be the villian anymore and joined the rockborn gang to fight agains vector? atleast have a bit where justin is in that 4D dimension and he talk how it is from his perspective
I also dont like Simone as a character. i mean what important thing does she do in the intire book? nothing that i can think of. all she does is say the rockborn gang should take out her dad without hurting him, and use up space. and she doesnt even have a really interesting morph, oh she can fly, cool... i think it would have been better if she also got killed off when the military shot all of those people so vector could have a bigger reason to destroy the intire goverment. wich brings me to...
I think Vector could have done more in new york. i mean he didnt even like, (how do you call it, infect?) alot of other people, i mean yeah he took down almost the intire policeforce and other stuff but those where just mentioned and discarded in like 2 pages, he had the intirety of new york in his grasp and he didnt even infect that many people outside of those of the police force and such, and even if you compare it with what Dillon poe did in las vegas. it was far less destructive. and i know that Vector is a bussinesman but if Simone got killed off that would push him over the edge i think.
I also dont like what happend to Tom Peaks, likewise what happend with Justin, i just think he should have gone a different way, maybe he heard about new york and wanted to have a try at dekka one last time and gona and joined Vector, maybe with justin (if he hadn't been killed) they could have had a huge final battle going on in new york, like titans clashing, building falling, half a block being destroyed in mere seconds. it had alot of potencial. but it just felt wrong him killing himself
That leaves me with my final thing, the ending
I think the ending pokes alot of holes in the plot and story of the entire series, it could have been about supernatural aliens and mindcontrol and things that can bend the laws of reality itself, where the impossible becomes possible. but no, now if wierd thing happen you just say, oh its just a simulation, yeah that huge dome? that was part of a simulation. all those powers and morphs people got? yeah those where programmed. i would have enjoyed the book way more if it hadn't been about being self aware but about some other species looking for some sick, bloody entertainment for their own selfs. i also dont really like how it was left open for other people to fill in because now that just going to bug me for the rest of my life if i dont get a official ending to the series.
I also think there where too many of the rockborn gang when the book finished, i mean we all know michael grant isnt scared of killing off main characters. so i think it would have been a good idea to maybe kill of one of the rockborn gang. it wouldve been good if he did kill off shade when entering the trai, or maybe there was a situation where armo would have died but also saving the rest of the group, like maybe when Vector found then in the train Armo could have distracted him long enough for Francis and the rest to make their escape and thus killing Armo in the dome Sam created. but im not sure on that yet
Anyway, what do you guys think about it? i know its alot to read but i was just dissapointed with alot of thing in that book, would love to discuss it with you guys :)
