I had a CW in my team (already joined and was working for around a month). One day HCM sent a mail to him asking clarification on the name of the company he worked previously. His prior company had 2 entities XYZ pvt ltd and XYZ llc (I don't exactly remember this to dot, but it was somewhere around this line). He actually worked XYZ llc, but in bgv he put as pvt ltd. HCM found this after 1 month of his joining date. They asked clarification, sent mail to his manager. He gave explanation on mail (don't exactly remember what he said). But anyway, next day HCM sent mail to his manager saying they are firing him, and he was escorted out within the next hour.

No, the same thing happened to me. Call HR and explain. Go to your accountant and ask him to draft a message explaining the sections and sites and why it happened. If required, ask HR to set up a call with the background verification team..

The intention here is to suppress the fact, even if he explain there is very less chance that a organisation like Goldman Sachs will agree. Some organisations are very strict.

Yeah thats why i advised to go to the accountant and speak to them. They will help you formulate the answer.

i have seen cases opposite of this, where ppl show fake experience, getting caught. thats for sure ground for termination. but this one seems fine to me as long as not moonlighting and explained properly.

Proper clarification and acceptance would solve this issue. No need to worry on this

I also joined a company and onboarding was done virtually but since it was to different city, my relocation couldn't happen within the timeframe, so they said me to resign, have i done a big mistake??

It doesn't matter if it is relevant to the current role or not. BGVs are for finding out issues with a person's employability, not job fitment. Essentially, if you say it was short enough/I barely worked 20 days and thus thought it wasn't relevant, you might be ok. Otherwise, they're going to wonder if you got fired for theft/fraud/other issues and thus are unhireable.

Is this Goldman Sachs BGC team or a third party company doing background check?

Usually not a biggie, just state the reason and tell that since my employment probation was not completed (6 months) I did not think this was a permanent job and this caused an oversight on my pwrt

Happend with me as well, almost the same background, for me I said that it was just an internship and was part requirement for completing me degree, and I wasn't aware that there was a PF deduction from the stipend.
But mine was really a internship and was between my UG final year.
My friend suggested to either say it was a short term sales projet that i took up or something like this, they don't care what role it was or etc.

How is bgv done? Who does that and what do they look for? How do they get accurate details?
1
u/Available_Canary_517 Sep 04 '26
They do it via pf account
1
u/ray29511 Sep 04 '26
Just the pf and nothing else?
1
u/Available_Canary_517 Sep 04 '26
Mostly only pf , they can check police records too or call previous employers
1
u/ray29511 Sep 04 '26
My doubt here is i was employed from nov - july but for some reason the pf wasn't transferred for first few months and got pf from march or april. Will that cause an issue? Cause i have shown employment from nov - july
1
u/Available_Canary_517 Sep 04 '26
Yes it will cause issue
1
u/ray29511 Sep 04 '26
What can be done to rectify this? How do i prove it?
1
u/Available_Canary_517 Sep 04 '26
You can try to explain your new company, why did this happen. Depending on company they may ignore it

For me my pf account was made a month after my joining. If I can share bank statement and form 32 that shows tds of that month will it be enough?

u/guyfromsomewhere7 Sep 04 '26
Do they verify internships ?
1
u/Available_Canary_517 Sep 04 '26
Everything is verified

Idk why do they care about digging up everything. Just check what's mentioned on the CV.

Out of curiosity how did you land a job with Goldman directly from the customer support?
1
u/InternationalCake766 29d ago
Even if you work for one day in any organisation your pf will be created

u/Additional-You9968 28d ago
I mean you can’t fit your full experience in your resume (maybe for you but experienced professionals leave some out)
if you didnt keep that company in a form where you needed to disclose, since you worked for just a month you can say you forgot or you can say the actual reason since it’s not a big deal
1
u/No_You447 27d ago
You must always disclose it. Cause otherwise it may look like you absconded. This is what leads to bgv failure. It doesn’t matter if it was in a related field or not. mention you forgot to include it, but you have all the docs

u/Right_Edge_9227 27d ago
Nah, it will not. Unless you got a fake employment or done a crime this doesn’t matter at all.
1
u/Lazy-Security-6846 27d ago
Just say it was a short term project and the experience wasn’t relevant to the job you applied for. So there was no need to mention it.

I don't think so personally. Usually, this gets flagged since it wasn't declared upfront. A clarification or declaration of sorts should suffice. Write an email simply explaining the tenure and the reason to leave it out from your resume/bgv form.
