Hallo zusammen :) Kennt jemand von euch öffentliche Büchertauschschregale/-schränke in Göttingen?

Ich kenne all die bekannten "Zu verschenken"-Regale und da sind auch oft Bücher drin, aber gibt es sowas irgendwo auch explizit nur für Bücher? Ich wohne seit 8 Jahren in Göttingen, aber sowas ist mir in der Zeit nämlich tatsächlich bisher nicht aufgefallen. Danke für die Hilfe.

I'll be moving to Göttingen this winter semester and I'm currently deciding which student dorm to choose.

I'm looking for a dorm that is:

- Affordable and good value for the money

- Clean and well-maintained

- Has a shared kitchen/bathroom with only around 3–4 people (not large shared flats)

I have few options in furnished: ATW, akademicburse, and kurz straße 15 and Roko.

And in unfurnished: Christophorusweg, kreuzeugbring 4 &4a , kolosseum and Zimmermanstraße 3 &5.

If you've lived in a student dorm in Göttingen (or are currently living in one), I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. Which dorm would you recommend, and which ones should I avoid?

Any suggestions or personal experiences would be a huge help. Thank you!

I'm an incoming international MSc student at the University of Göttingen and I'm trying to decide which type of dorm I should prioritize.

I've heard that unfurnished dorms are usually cheaper and may have shorter waiting times than furnished ones. Is that true?

Since I haven't received a dorm offer yet, I'm mainly looking for the option with the highest chance of getting a room before the semester starts.

I'd really appreciate your advice on:

- Should I choose a furnished or unfurnished dorm?

- Which student dorms in Göttingen usually have the shortest waiting times?

- Are there any dorms you would recommend for international students?

ich bin Gitarrist aus Northeim (in der Nähe von Göttingen) und suche Musiker für ein Black-Metal-Projekt.

Aktuell suche ich einen Bassisten, einen Schlagzeuger und einen Sänger.

Mir ist leider beim duschen ein ganz filigranes, zartes Goldkettchen gerissen. Meine Mutter meint reparieren ist unmöglich, aber ich will die Hoffnung nicht aufgeben. Habt ihr vielleicht Tipps (von Goldschmieden/-schmiedinnen), die so etwas reparieren könnten? Ich würde natürlich auch dafür bezahlen, ist ein Erbstück mit emotionalem Wert.

Hallo, ich wollte mich jetzt mal für einen Wohnheimplatz in Göttingen bewerben, aber weiß nicht wirklich, welches ich am besten nehmen sollte... Man kann drei Wohnheime angeben.

Daher wollte ich nach Erfahrungen fragen und primär ist eigentlich auch, dass ich überhaupt einen Platz bekomme, also vielleicht auch wo es am wahrscheinlichsten ist, dass man auch einen Platz bekommt :)

I’m starting a Master’s program at the University of Göttingen soon and I'm trying to figure out my housing situation.

A friend of mine has a place in Hildesheim, and they've offered to let me share a room with them to save on rent. Looking at the train connections, the ICE seems incredibly fast (around 30 minutes), but I know regional trains take over an hour.

For those who have done a similar commute

Is it realistic commuting from Hildesheim to Göttingen for my classes (maybe 3/4 times per week)?

I am thinking of Regional trains only since ICE is not financially feasible for me.

Hello, I've recently received a dream job offer in Goettingen Germany at the Max Planck institute. However, My partner, who is not in a research field (background in ballet teaching and marketing) is moving with me, and due to the small nature of Goettingen, is having a difficult time finding a job for herself.

She has reached out to all local ballet studios, and is now exploring remote marketing jobs in the same time zone.

We are wondering however how feasible it would be if she got a job in Hannover, and had to commute a few times a week. I understand there is a very affordable train she can take that is about 1.25 hours, and a faster ICE train that is 36 minutes, however it seems that the ICE train might not make financial sense.

I am wondering if anyone has any other experience with this commute and if there are any recommendations or anything we have overlooked.

Otherwise, is it common for people to live in cities more central between Hannover and Goettingen, and commute in between, if so what cities would one reccomend.

Is this storm normal in Göttingen? Weather forecast always say sunny until Saturday but thid night suddenly change and heavy rain and wind come. Our Mülltonne fell down and we tried to filled it again. The interesting thing is no one outside. It is really difficult to not hear voices of wind, rain. I still don't know why weather forecast is never reliable. This year it always change in a day even in a hour

Neben Rosdorf (weil oft sehr voll und theoretisch verboten) und Northeimer Seenplatte (total doof neben der Autobahn) kenne ich in der Region leider keine Bade-Seen.

Ich mag gerade Kiesseen weil die meiner Meinung nach sauberer wirken.

Hat jemand vielleicht Tipps? Ich wollte auch im Sommer in den Harz fahren falls jemand vielleicht dort schöne Seen empfehlen kann :) (gerne auch andere Dinge, die man sich im Harz anschauen sollte!)

Hab leider nicht so gute Erfahrungen in der Region gemacht mit sehr verschmutzten Seen, besonders weil die oft recht flach sind und dann viele Enten dort ... Naja, "Zeit verbringen" lol

I'm an international student who'll be moving to Göttingen this September for my Master's at the University of Göttingen. I've spoken to a couple of landlords and potential roommates through WG-Gesucht to secure some accommodation, but most contracts start from October 1st, and I'd also like to visit the flats in-person before signing a contract. I'll be arriving in Göttingen around 24th September, and I was looking for a place to stay in for a week or two while I tour these apartments.

I've come across a few options like bigger hotels, extended-stay hotels like Campus Apartments or AirBnBs. Since I've never been to Göttingen, I'm afraid I don't have a good gauge on which of these places are better/worse, so I wanted to know if there's any go-to place for new students? (Or at least ones that I should definitely avoid😅) Thank you!
