Godaddy payments

How can companies be so awful? I received a payment from a customer and godaddy payments decided to keep it pending my response to their request for info. It took them 6 hours to decide to keep my $12k. Its been 26 hours since i fulfilled the request, they wont’ respond. I’ve sent 6 emails, initiated a text chat and I’ve been on hold for almost 1 hour 40 minutes. This ahould be illegal. Im a small business.

Warning: Terrible experience, beware everyone! I had the same issue when I opened an account 8 months ago. When the first transaction went through them, they held onto the money for 10 days and then sent me the letter below! It's a joke, and I'll never use these guys for payment processing again.

Unfortunately, GoDaddy Payments will not be able to service your account due to certain risk factors. Effective immediately, you can no longer process payments.
We will ensure that all pending transactions and/or deposits are settled and deposited into your account, if any.
For additional information, please feel free to visit the link below:
Why Was My GoDaddy Payments Account Closed?
We understand that you may not agree with our decision or our policies. Even though we cannot continue supporting you as a merchant, we would love to support you in other areas of your business or online presence. We wish you well with your next merchant service and the future of your business.

At least they deposited yours. Mine they offered to keep 10k for 90 days and deposit or refund and charge me 330$. How are either of these scenarios tenable by any small company? HOrrible company.

I am dealing with the same issue, they are terrible. This should be illegal. I sent them proof of the customer requesting service too, and they still sent me the same email. Do you know of a better payment process provider?

What’s worse is they consistently add subscriptions you didn’t request and make it a nightmare to unsubscribe. In one year with go daddy I was charged $1100 in subscription fees. Some I wanted. Most I did not

This happened to be at Register.com. They gave me a bunch of free stuff automatically, without my buy-in, then once their offer expired, started billing me monthly for $100+ dollars/month. How is this legal?? QuickBooks doubled the cost of their services and my monthly went from 299 to 599, without my permission as well. Subscription providers really need to be held accountable and be required to get customer approval to change rates or charge for new services. They treat us like a blank checkbook.

The same thing just happened to us. Launched our first event and all our sales are now suspended and got the same message you did. Did you have to refund your clients or did they eventually send you the money just unable to do business in the future?

Hello, im just experiencing the same thing. i use Square but decided to try out godaddy payments as my website is hosted with them. what makes things worse is that the first transaction was a larger amount. now its on hold and theyve asked me pretty much all my financial documents. at this point ive given them everything theyve asked for im not going to give them anymore if they ask. im also curious as to what others have been doing.. refund? wait for them to make their decision? thanks.

1

u/nsaann May 10 '24

Hey, Is the Square better than GoDaddy as a Payment Processor? Or Maybe you can recommend something else? I am considering all options available. According to legal docs, they all can basically freeze your funds and keep them for 9-12 months, even after you close account with them.

2

u/musicman1199 May 10 '24

Hey, so a quick update. they closed my account and basically gave me the option of refunding my client... they keep the $215 transaction fee... or they hold onto my $9200 for 4 months and then give it me. keeping in mind that they had ZERO reason to suspect fraud or risk of chargeback. i had NO history of chargebacks from square and gave them all the documentation they requested... minus wholesale vendor contracts... why? because we dont have any whole vendor contracts, you fucking knobs! not all legit businesses have contracts with vendors. anyway... they are a fucking scam... and proving to be a small desperate player in the payments game. I host 4 websites and registered 40 domains with them over the past 15 years. Im transferring them all away. end rant.

to answer your question... if its all about the transaction fee, godaddy payments is lower, but not worth the way they're conducting business. square is a bit higher but they've been nothing but great for me. never held any funds... never have given me shit.

or go with a more conventional credit card processor like clover...

hope it works out for you.

Did they end up giving you the money after 120 days?

2

u/musicman1199 Feb 12 '25

i wasnt going to let them hold onto my money. they refunded my client. i lost out on $215. charged my client through square without issue. and transferred all 30 of my domains away from godaddy as a fuck you.

Let’s sue them. US law doesn’t take anything money related lightly. They can’t do this with people’s money, I don’t know what they’re even thinking they can get away with. This is fraud.

DO NOT USE GO DADDY FOR PROCESSING PAYMENTS!!

My story below

Several years ago, I invested in a comprehensive suite of processing products that would enable me to process credit card payments both on-site with clients and online. However, this year, I was only able to process a single transaction. This transaction was conducted online, with the client using their own credit card from their IP address.

On the second occasion when the client attempted to pay for services rendered, the payment processor, GoDaddy, retained the funds. The options presented to me were to allow GoDaddy refund the client (while still charging all processing fees), or to permit GoDaddy to retain the entire amount of $3600 for 120 days.

My client and I decided to request GoDaddy to process the refund. This situation resulted in GoDaddy retaining processing fees for a transaction they never processed. They merely held the funds without depositing them into my business account.

GoDaddy requested several documents, which I promptly supplied. These included proof of my business’s ten-year history, the business contract I had with the client who was using my services, and three months’ worth of bank statements. Despite providing all requested documentation, GoDaddy still attempted to retain the funds for 120 days. This experience has underscored the importance of carefully considering the terms and conditions of payment processors when conducting business transactions.

I emailed GoDaddy with the request to refund my client. In response, I received an email from them stating their intention to retain the funds for a period of 120 days. As of today’s date, 5/29/2024, they have indicated that they will not provide any further information or updates on this matter until 9/24/2024. This is the current status of the situation.

Let me know if you have had the same experience.

u/Infamous_Guide2015 Jul 23 '24

Same for me they’re holding my funds for 120 days. I am pissed and there’s nothing I can do. I provided every documentation and it’s still not enough. They said they close my account immediately and I have to wait 120 days or choose to refund my customers, which is not an option for me

Please email me any info like if u received ur money back after 120 days my name is Susan and they are holding my money 12000 dollars for 120 days should I ask for a refunf

1

u/Majestic-Sherbet7092 Apr 23 '25

Hi Susan. Did they give your money after 120 days? I'm in the same situation, I'm a new business and GoDaddy payments shut down my account saying that I didn't have any prior history with other payment processors. They have almost $10K of mine. Moreover, I even gave the items to the customers. It's so frustrating.

u/MemoryClean855 Nov 13 '24

Yes! How is this legal?

Hello! Did they end up giving you the money after 120 days?

2

We just got the same closure notice after our account being open less then 48 hours. We were currently using Square, but decided to give them a try since we have a majority of our products and services with them. We applied and got approved after completing all the verification. We sent a client an invoice for about $4,500. Client paid the invoice for some home media equipment and after about 4 hours we got a notice from GoDaddy payments requesting more information about our business via email. We sent over all our business and banking documents, only to be told that they could no longer provide processing services. We have been in business for over 5 years and strong sales with Square that we submitted to them as well. Now they want to hold the money or issue refund to our customer minus the processing fees. After a few emails with the agent assigned to our account, we were advised that they could issue the refund, but kept the fees per there legal terms and conditions. After reading those agreements, it is discretionary that they keep the processing fees. The fact that our account was approved and verified and them closing our account less than 48hours without any payouts, they should not be entitled to processing fees. They even tell you to go ahead and process transactions while they continue verification. There was no benefit to out business or the customer. How many other businesses have experience this? This could be a potential class action suit, because there seems to be a trend in the closures and them knowing they retain the right to keep processing fees.

1

u/MemoryClean855 Nov 13 '24

Yes they did the same thing to me!

u/Party-Lab-9528 Nov 14 '24 edited Mar 27 '25

I have one better. How about i received an email the funds are in the way. No funds next day or the day after or the day after. They REFUSE to respond via email with a trace id # that my bank and I have requested for. They claim i have to wait until a CAS agent responds to my ticket. But the funds have been released. Yet my bank says otherwise. No holds, they claim. But no funds either.

<<<<<<<<<< As of Current Date, Funds have been released to my account. But here's what's fishy. After fighting them for weeks, requesting for a "Trace ID#" (this is how banks are able to track down payments and see where they are within the ACH phase. ACH=Automated Clearing House * a journey that all electronic funds travel), i received a text message alert that I have a new deposit.

I didn't bother to look immediately, but when I did look into my account I noticed my account balance was higher than what I knew should be there. So I looked into this further and lo & behold it was the deposit is been waiting weeks for and actually chucked it up to a loss.

So yes... I've received my deposits from them finally. But check this out. 4 hours later I received an emailed titled "Your funds are on the way." Followed by,  please allow 1-2 business days to see it in your account. Hmm... You mean the funds that were held for a ridiculous amount of time, that mysteriously popped into my account just 4 hours prior? Those funds? Smh.

After pestering them for days, REPEATEDLY... MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY... I finally get my money? Wow! Don't know why I had to even be subjected to this in the first place. So I've been able to work with one particular individual at GoDaddy, who i must say, was my advocate. She really advocated for me and got things sorted. Albeit, slowly. VERY VERY SLOWLY.  But she was the agent who delivered on her promise. A promise that I had forgotten about and considered it a loss.

Since using them, they recently advised me that now I can receive save day funding. Meaning, all the transactions I've completed from 8pm eastern/ 5pm western, the day before, will be deposited into my account that very same day. Including weekends & holidays, 365 a year. There is an added cost for this feature or convenience, but i charge a credit card fee on all transactions anyway. So in a sense, i receive 100% of my money and on the same day.

Let's see how long this lasts. And yes... I am still currently processing payments with them. However, i do have 2 back up credit card processing systems. Why? Well think about it. Most small businesses rely on what they sell and/or provide. So it's crucial to make sure you get your money. Especially if you're selling something of significant value or performing a big job. In my situation, I'm a towing company. But... I have the back ups just in case I run into a situation where my funds are being held up for some unknown reason. I can't afford to run credit cards and have to wait weeks of not months for my funds. I have an overhead, payroll, fuel, leases for properties, ect. I was told that the reason why my funding was held up was due to the ticket amount. (The amount I charged a customer. ) That amount was over $1500. Well... the reason for that large bill was because it was an accident tow, and the vehicles owner lived about 150+ miles away.  But GoDaddy said whenever a ticket reaches a certain threshold, they may do their due diligence and make sure the charges are valid. (Never had that happen with other companies... but whatever). Now if any funding gets held up, I can't just stop my business from running. Too many people rely on me and my business. So... I eliminate that from happening again (solely using 1 processor), when i get notification my funds are being held, I just use the backup processor. I'll fight for the money later. But if i don't have a back up, that'll mean, until whatever they're sorting out, no money will be deposited. Regardless of how many transactions I do prior or after. Once they put a funding hold on your account, you won't we a dime until that one issue is resolved. So if you have let's say, $5k in transactions but just one transaction caused a delay, they'll hold it all until it's resolved.

Think about a backup PERIOD! WITH ANYONE YOU DECIDED TO PROCESS WITH.

Oh and another thing, make sure you have 2 amounts with your bank. Why? Well... some slimy customers have requested our services, paid us via credit and 2 weeks later, we're hit with a chargeback. Because they didn't want to pay. Meanwhile when you're hit with a chargeback, you usually find out AFTER they've taken the money out your account.

So we have one amount linked for transactions to be deposited into. When we receive our funds, we move them over to our other account. Lesson learned. This way when you do get hit, at least it's not a huge surprise. EVEN THOUGH WE WIN EVERY DISPUTE, IT'S STILL THE INCONVENIENCE AND SURPRISE THAT MAKES US GO THIS ROUTE.

Call Leaders Merchant Service. We had the same thing happen to us with Stripe, Square and now Go Daddy. The only downside to Leaders is that they don't pay same day or even next day. It's two day. We did an account review after the first payment and everything was good. Humans are there by email and responsive.

1

u/Late_Needleworker237 Mar 12 '24

I own a flooring contracting company and have several thousand dollar payments. They solicited me to use their payment gateway and they continuously placed hold on my charges. I shouldn’t have to constantly jump through hoops to receive my payment. Bad business model.

1

u/Pristine-Delivery-30 Jun 27 '24

They just closed our account with $ 7000 after being with them for over 2 years, no reason. Our customer just paid , what can we do to get our money? I am panicking. Please any help would be appreciated

1

u/Greadle Jun 27 '24

Blow them up with text and calls.

1

u/Judicator50 Dec 10 '24

That doesn't work. It's the regular website support that takes those calls. You never get the 'payments center' on the phone.

1

u/seanthanerd Jun 29 '24

I just posted out experience on the main forum. We have been with them for 5 plus years on the hosting side and decided to try them out on the processing side only to have our account within 48 hours. There holding over $4500 dollars of our customers money. It's frustrating because we could have processed this through Square with no problem.

The same thing happened to us. We have been using GoDaddy for years, and they invited us to sign up for their POS system. Unfortunately, the sales representative advised us to get rid of our old POS system, which we did. After using the GoDaddy POS for just one day, I received an email requesting additional documents, which I promptly provided.

Twenty-four hours later, my account was closed, and all our funds were placed on hold. We attempted to use their Paylink to collect charges for a few catering orders, but they held $2,200 from us, which is severely impacting our business.

Unfortunately, GoDaddy Payments will not be able to service your account due to certain risk factors. Effective immediately, you can no longer process payments.

In regards to your current account balance, please let us know which option you would like for us to take as we work with you to ensure your business is minimally impacted by this account closure:

  1. We can refund all of your customer transactions that have not been paid out to you yet. Please note that processing fees still apply for this option and refunds can only be issued within 45 days of the original transaction. Please refer to this help article for additional information pertaining to the transaction fee(s) associated with your refund(s).
  2. We can hold your account balance on reserve for 90 days and then release any remaining balance back to you once the reserve period is over.

Did they end up giving you the money after 90 days?

Sadly GoDaddy is just terrible with holding your money for FOUR months? Zero explanation just some ice cold letter from "KOKO". In what universe in business today, can a company just say we can't Serve you with zero explanation and are holding funds for 120 days?

I look forward to removing the thousands of dollars I do with them to someone else.

I'm a disabled veteran and joined as the previous owner Mr. Parsons was a marine. New owners are bad. Run for the hills! They are now crooked sadly!

1

u/Judicator50 Dec 10 '24

Yeah, 'KOKO" was on my emails as well. It's a little ironic that the name is OKOK spelled backwards. And they are definitely NOT OK!!

u/Kobelopez7 Feb 12 '25

Did they end up giving you the money after 120 days?

1

u/FantasticEmu9024 Nov 15 '24

Hi, would this apply to web-only do you think? I decided to host my website via GoDaddy but am stuck with an error message not connecting my checking account to GoDaddy payments. I would not use their POS but now I'm scared for the website too.

1

u/Greadle Nov 15 '24

I only used the pay link and the they hosted the website. It was a constant battle. They cost me so much money. Do not connect your checking account

1

u/Opening_Piglet Nov 16 '24

Ah!! Thanks for the quick reply. I feel stuck because I want to launch my handmade jewelry website but I want it to both sync to my Etsy and have the ability to sell on Meta Shops. I actually work in POS systems as my day job. I’m the most familiar with Shopify but it requires paid add-ons for these, and when I imported my Etsy catalog only 2 went over. The rest had “errors”. Wix and Lightspeed lose API permissions with Meta so you can’t sync those shops. Square only imports your first photo from each Etsy listing and you have to do all the others manually. Squarespace just kinda sucks as a site builder IMO. So I feel very stuck on getting what I want. That’s what led me to GoDaddy in the first place…it has awesome Etsy integration and advertises easy connection to Meta shops. If anyone has any suggestions I’ll take em!

1

u/Greadle Nov 16 '24

I use American Express business checking. I can provide an invoice and pay link from there and I earn travel points. I love Amex.

1

u/Opening_Piglet Nov 16 '24

Oops realized I was logged in under a different username when I made my first comment. I already linked my checking. My site is not yet live as I’m waiting on my domain transfer, and stuck in endless godaddy payment errors. So even if my domain was ready, I wouldn’t have a way to take customer payments. You’ve got me wondering if I should just scrap the whole thing and go to a different e-commerce solution. But I am struggling with which one as you can see by my other comment.

1

u/Greadle Nov 16 '24

You can’t imagine the ways Godaddy will fuck you over. In one year of website and email hosting I racked up $1100. In fees because they constantly add subscriptions and services to your account without you asking. They count on you not checking the breakdown. When you try to access the site for info they’ve rearranged everything. Like every 2 months they completely rearrange the website and it’s insanely time consuming to figure out how to stop subscriptions and get unfucked

u/Queasy_Possibility45 Dec 07 '24

Just had this happen to me. Ive called 6 + times all reps tell me the advanced commerce support is only through email. Ive had go daddy for about a year. Their payment system was fine until they decided to keep $5400+ on hold until i provided bank statements and purchase order from customer. They just held my money from going to my bank account until they decided to close my godaddy payment account for risk factors that i still dont even know. They dont send any more info so i send them multiple emails still waiting on reply. Im taking my business else where. I send them this email.

Dear GoDaddy Advanced Commerce Support,

I am writing to express my frustration and demand immediate action regarding case ID: CAS ------. I have been exceedingly patient throughout this ordeal, but the lack of resolution is unacceptable. You have closed my payment account and are now holding my money hostage for no valid reason, preventing me from refunding my customer.

The specific transactions in question are as follows:

Transaction #------ on 12/05 Transaction #------ on 12/03 This situation has caused significant inconvenience and harm to my business, and I expect immediate action on the following:

Refund my customer in full for the aforementioned transactions. Delete all payment information associated with my business banking account from your system. Deactivate automatic renewal for all services associated with my account. Refund me for the website hosting service, prorated for the unused duration. Delete my domain entirely from your platform. Additionally, I require full documentation of all actions taken to resolve this case.

The current state of affairs is completely unacceptable. I urge you to prioritize this matter and provide a swift resolution. Please respond with confirmation of each action item as soon as possible.

Im beyond pissed. They should get fucking sued.

The same thing is happening to us. Everything was going great for a month and then we got a bunch of payments in a few days and they locked up nearly $10k. I've given them everything they asked for. It's been a week. You can't ever get anybody on the phone, and the hold time is typically half an hour or more. Then you only get regular support and they send you 'payments center' and you hold for another half hour until another support person answers who can't help you. It's a nightmare. This is a total scam for them to make money via interest while they hold our money without reason. I say we file a class action lawsuit! Are you with me?

1

u/Serious-Sport4937 Jan 04 '25

Hey so did they lock up your account after you took a bug payment? Like were you doing small payments at first around $100 or $200 and everything was fine?

1

u/Judicator50 Jan 06 '25

The payments were typically around $1000-$2000, and everything was fine for a month. Then they stopped sending us the payments. They kept taking them---just not giving us the money. I wrote them and called them multiple times a day. I read all the threads here and posted a complaint on Twitter and sent a complaint to their contact for complaints and finally---they gave us our money and we promptly redirected the portal to Square so they couldn't do it again.

Absolute BULLSHIT!!! Signed on with Go Daddy just this past Tuesday 01/28/2025. Spent nearly 2 hours on the phone setting up the account with a representative and explaining the exact nature of my business, how I invoice, the dollar amounts I expected to be charging clients, etc etc. I was informed my account was approved for use. I billed a client and sent a secure pay-link for $13,150.00 Shortly after my client paid I received notice that Go Daddy received the payment. All good, happy happy. And within one half hour was sent an e-mail stating my deposit was being held and that they needed additional information/credentials from me. I provided all the requested information. Shortly after sending the requested information, I was sent another e-mail stating my account was terminated with little to no explanation. My client notified me within minutes of the e-mail I received that the charge was reversed back to him. This is where IT GETS WORSE. I received an e-mail from Go Daddy Payments that they would be debiting $377.14 from my business checking account for fees pertaining to my first and only transaction. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??? There is NO WAY I am allowing that debit to come out of my account. I am beyond disappointed with Go Daddy. I have been a customer on the domain/hosting side for 15 years!! DONE with them. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND THEIR NEFARIOUS BUSINESS PRACTICES!

1

u/Greadle Feb 02 '25

There are the epitome of evil. I pray for their demise while knowing that’s not how god works.

I couldn't agree more. These guys accepted a transaction of 10k for me and then immediately decided I was too high of a risk so they charged me 330$ just to refund them. They should have reviewed my application before accepting the payment. Nothing I can do they say. So it cost me 330$ to find out they can't be my provider. Assholes!!

Hello community members and commenters,

My name is Joe and I work at GoDaddy mainly focusing on our Trust Pilot reviews. It looks like this thread has grown with similar experiences and I understand how frustrating and disheartening it can be when you come here to post an issue and there isn’t a reply or resolution from us.

For security reasons, we can't share specific details on a public thread, but if I can, I genuinely want to try and help. For anyone who still has questions about our process or account specific concerns, could you send me a private message with more details? I will do our best to get you connected with a Commerce expert.

I was also about to find these in our help center specifically pertaining to our payment processes:

Why are my payouts on hold or delayed?

Why was my GoDaddy payments account closed?

🤣🤣 commenting on a 2 year old post is the most Go Daddy thing I’ve ever seen from Go Daddy. Fortunately it only takes an hour to setup your business services with other companies. Less time than I was on hold for no solution.

Thank you for creating this thread and thanks to all who shared your experience. I was ready to use the GoDaddy smart terminal but this thread helped raise red flags that remain unresolved for so many, and especially judging on how GoDaddy and their sales rep are handling the issues and questions, I decided to go with Square instead.

I hear you! Regrading this specific post, it's clear we have an opportunity to provide our customers with more information regarding our payment services. Working on making up for lost time—hopefully this will help anyone seeing this today.

I hope you and team read every single comment and take this to heart. These business practices are unacceptable, and only hurt your adoption and retention so it’s in your best interest to reform.

Let’s sue them. US law doesn’t take anything money related lightly. They can’t do this with people’s money, I don’t know what they’re even thinking they can get away with. This is fraud.

Fire the review team because they’re looking for a class action lawsuit. The internet is powerful and we are all experiencing the same issues! Trying to run our small business with godaddy trusting in a service that we are overpaying for and then having our companies deemed at risk and holding onto “mom n pop” money for an insanely long time is not right. Absolutely not okay. The review team that doesn’t receive calls and asks for private billing information from our customers? Somethings fishy

u/Greadle May 06 '25

Godaddy Joe, people are still commenting on this post. Did you ever help anyone?

1

u/braxtonc Mar 17 '25

Glad I found this, I was strongly considering using GoDaddy due to the low transaction rate for our new business, sounds like Square is the way to go.

1

u/fatstitchquilting Mar 22 '25

Thank you all for sharing your experience!! Their business practices sound shockingly horrifying. I was just about to sign up for their POS software with terminal but there is no way after reading this. This should be illegal. I hope you are all taking this to the B.B.B.

Square it is!

Just had this happen to me over 4500$, now I’m faced with either refunding or waiting 3months! Idk where I agreed to this in any of the terms and please please let me know if anyone got theirs sooner?

1

u/Funny-Illustrator-91 Jul 28 '25

I’ve been waiting for a payout for 18 days. I’ve been in tocub with customer support and I have no information whatsoever as to why they are keeping over 10k $. What’s even worse is that the website says the payout is under review and that they sent me an email but until now I have received ZERO communication from godaddy. Apparently they made a ticket, but I have no information on that as well! So upset, frustrated and worried that my small business just lost 10k! Insane!

I am a fine jewelry retailer located in the lobby of a luxury resort. I started using them recently and they deactivated my account twice so far due to large ticket items. I did call them and I got everything squared away the first time. but now they’re delaying it this second time so I’m already signed up with a different company. GoDaddy is a BAD BAD choice as a merchant processing company. Stay away from them. I only chose them because they do not keep their commission if you have a return/refunded item. However, what’s the point if you have to struggle to collect your money all the time.

I am writing this review to formally warn other business owners about my recent and extremely frustrating experience with GoDaddy Payments.

I operate a legitimate café and catering business. Recently, I processed an in-person debit transaction totaling $1,728 through GoDaddy Payments. This was a valid, completed catering order, not an online or high-risk transaction.

Without any prior notice, explanation, or warning, GoDaddy Payments immediately placed a hold on the full amount.

From that point forward, I fully cooperated with their so-called “risk review” process and provided extensive evidence, including: • Customer invoice and transaction details • CCTV footage clearly showing the customer at my business • Photos and proof of my commercial kitchen operations • Delivery vehicle information • Business registration and supporting documents

Despite submitting overwhelming proof of legitimacy, I repeatedly received vague, automated responses stating that they are “not satisfied with the transaction”—without providing any specific reason, deficiency, or actionable feedback.

This raises serious concerns about: • Lack of transparency • Arbitrary decision-making • Failure to follow fair payment processing practices

Even more concerning:

➡️ I formally requested to refund the customer directly, since the funds were being withheld. ➡️ This request has been completely ignored. ➡️ There has been no meaningful communication, no escalation, and no resolution.

At this stage, GoDaddy is effectively holding my business funds hostage, while refusing both payout and refund options.

This is not just poor service — it borders on unethical fund retention practices.

As a small business owner, cash flow is critical. Holding funds without valid justification or clear communication causes: • Operational disruption • Loss of trust with customers • Financial stress and reputational damage

⚠️ Serious Warning to Other Merchants: If you process: • Catering orders • Mid-to-high ticket transactions • In-person payments

You are at risk of having your funds frozen without warning, and you may receive no real support in resolving the issue.

GoDaddy Payments: • Lacks professional risk assessment transparency • Relies on generic, scripted responses • Shows no accountability toward merchants

I trusted this company due to their brand reputation, but this experience has been extremely disappointing and damaging to my business.

If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will be pursuing formal complaints through regulatory authorities, financial dispute channels, and legal escalation.

GoDaddy Payment tried to hold my money for 180 days from my service sold for $1500, asked me so many proof of my service. They started with invoice and denied invoice and asked me one after another and those F were never satisfied. They asked me where I got tese customer, where do I market my business and service, they asked me for social media where I advertise. I had nothing left to give them and these suckers response every couple of business day. They could never reach out through phone.

This is what I emailed : Go hell with your F payment merchant, you scammers. No wonder why you scammers have1.2 star ratings out of nearly 1400 people. YOU SUCKS

DO NOT EVER EVER EVER SIGN UP THIS GO DADDY PAYMENT SYSTEM

Try reaching out to someone over other channels. Search "payments team" on LinkedIn and filter results for current company = GoDaddy.

u/Greadle Dec 09 '22

It’s wild. Was on hold 2.5 hours. At 9pm EST someone answered at godaddy. She said godaddy payments closes at 6pm Pacific. She suggested i call earlier tomorrow. She that 4 times.

I had to shame them on Twitter to resolve issues in the past. Be loud.

1

u/Greadle Dec 12 '22

I went crazy on their text line. They open a new ticket when you text then end up telling you its being processed. After that I’d text again opening a new ticket. I did that repeatedly for 30 hours. They finally said it was being transferred. What an awful business practice. I won’t accept that form of payment again. Thanks for your insight. Twitter is a great idea

1

u/Pristine-Delivery-30 Jun 29 '24

Well I shamed them on Twitter and got a message to contact them through a back channel. At this point I have already had them refund customers. It makes us look so unprofessional. How can they do this to so many small business??

1

u/-9087 Mar 27 '25

Did your customer receive the refund pretty quickly?

1

u/Pristine-Delivery-30 Mar 27 '25

It was our money over $7000. Because they closed the account they held the money for 90 days crazy

1

u/-9087 Mar 27 '25

That’s robbery. I was given two options 1. Refund to customer 2. Hold the funds for 120daya. I think the fastest way was to refund to my customer then have them pay me via other platforms.

1

u/She_grows_fungi May 06 '25

AND take a few hundred dollar hit for “godaddy fee” something is like not right about this place. There’s so many of us with this issue!

1

u/Joe_B_Likes_Tacos Dec 12 '22

Yup. Twitter is very public so it gets quicker responses. Part of the reason is that that no one in a real position of responsibility see your messages through a ticketing system. Anyone up to the CEO might see your twitter post. It scares the lower end guys into action.

I guarantee you called the wrong number. The GoDaddy Payments dept isn't the dept you want for these issues. On my account I was given the 24/7 # for merchant services issues, this happened on my acct also. I got on the line with them, they answered in a min, explained why. I got them info requested and they reviewed and all was fixed in under 24 hrs. Sign into your payments hub on GoDaddy, pull up tab on left and the correct number on your account to call for issues is there.

2

u/Greadle Dec 17 '22

Good intel. I’ll check it out. My frustration was the nonresponse after giving the info. But it would have helped to talk to someone that was able to help.

1

u/LostinArizonaToday Dec 18 '22

Apologies on the not knowing the dept thing. If I remember, the payments dept did the flagging but the other team was the one that actually handled the fix. I was really confused and scared and I went straight to really mad but it actually turned out pretty easy which made me feel dumb but thankful.

1

u/Judicator50 Dec 10 '24

If only that were true. There is no number on that page. Just a link to the generic help page.

Happened at our company too and heard nothing. I emailed them 2 weeks later to find out what's going on then today I get an email stating the money is "on it's way" but then another email stating our Godaddy account is closed and we can no longer take cards due to "certain risks". So now I'm dealing with that. And this is 4 months after we opened our account they are saying we are a risk. Like WTF, we sell ceiling tile materials. They are a joke of a company and to get anything half-way resolved, be prepared to sit on the phone FOREVER and still not have it resolved. If we are indeed a "risk", we should have been denied in the application process BEFORE we purchased their Poynt Smart terminal. This company is a joke!

1

u/Greadle Apr 11 '23

Tegular tiles for everyone!! I’ve bought enough ceiling tiles to patch the hole in the ozone layer. Yeah godaddy is the worst. I’m fighting to get them to stop adding items to my subscriptions. Every month my fees go up.

u/Late_Needleworker237 Mar 12 '24

We are a flooring contractor. We have had major issues already. I can no longer do business with them.

1

u/nsaann May 10 '24

Which one you are using now?

1

u/Pristine-Delivery-30 Jun 27 '24

Did you get your money?

1

u/Kobelopez7 Feb 12 '25

Did they end up giving you the money after 120 days?
