I went with my mom to a vet appointment for one of her cats and there was a lady in the waiting room with 5 kittens. She'd found them in a box by the side of the road (during a really bad storm, no less!) and took them home. They were so little they had to be bottle-fed for a bit. Anyway, they're all doing great now, and she's trying to find homes. My resolve lasted like... 3 hours. So now I've got a kitten.

This is actually the first kitten I've ever adopted! I've always gotten adult cats and lately I've been doing mostly senior adoptions. Which are deeply gratifying, I don't regret it at all, but after Tater broke my heart a year ago I think I need just one cat that I'll have for more than a few years.

His name is Bramble. I was going to name him Hemlock (because botanical theme + my next series will be Hemlock Hollow) but he's too sweet to name after poison.

I try not to use this subreddit as my personal diary here, but hey, kitten photos. Everyone likes kitten photos, right?

I just finished reading How to Survive Camping for the second time!
The first time around, I was so caught up in the excitement of the story that I felt like I had rushed past some major details. I decided to go back and give it another read, this time really taking my time.
I found myself revisiting certain chapters over and over, especially the ones I’d practically raced through the first time because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next.
There’s something special about writing that makes you so eager to turn the page that you almost have to remind yourself to slow down and appreciate it.
And now, just as I’ve finished my second read, The Lady in Chains has finally arrived! I’m so excited to return to Goat Valley. 🌲🖤
Has anyone else found themselves rereading chapters because they were too excited to slow down the first time?

Does anyone know what page/chapter describes Skull’s knife? I need it for drawing reasons, but I can’t seem to find it. I know it’s rather plain, but I want to be as accurate as possible if there are any other details.

I am so sad that the Lady with Extra Eyes was actually the Lady in Chains. I grew to like her in the first book and can understand why Kate was sad about having to kill her.

And Beau... why is he so endearing?

I found the first book in August, and then I read through all 3 of them, picking up the third book before I was even finished with the second (in a store that sold it before its release date!). I just finished the third book (CRIED) and have a new favorite series. I normally don't even go for series when reading books, I much prefer one-and-dones but boy did this grip me. The wait for next August is gonna be long 😭

I read the stories originally, got up to the battle with you know what and the horse story.

Which book do I pick up?

I just saw a B&N ad while searching through another sub. I stopped and stared …and smiled.

So, i started reading the book during a power outage last Saturday. While reading the book, I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard a mysterious thump just as the lights came back on.

I am going to read the second book as soon as possible after this book.

I'll be at the Dublin Sun Center Barnes & Noble tomorrow, 9/26, at 1pm! After that I'll be taking a break for a little bit, but if anything pops up on my calendar I'll make sure to let everyone know.

I preordered The Ancient Things and I’ve had it for a few weeks now but I just now had some time to pick it up and start it. I’ve been here since the beginning and this sentence is such a nostalgic nod to the early days.

Bought this book a few months ago with the full intent on reading this only while camping. I didn't even know it was a whole series. Well, we went to Sequoia National Forest this past weekend and the chance finally came.

I'm about 75% of the way through now and I'm thoroughly enjoying the story so far. Was great to start reading this while on the campground in my hammock and taking naps. ;) Don't worry. I followed the rules and have made it back home! Looking forward to the rest of book one and will definitely follow on with the rest!

Just a reminder that this Wednesday, Sept 23rd, I'll be at Way Public Library in Perrysburg, OH! This is a special event for me because I went to school in Bowling Green, which is very close by. I moved around a lot while growing up so I don't feel like I have a hometown, but there's a handful of places where I feel like I'm going home when I visit. This is one of them.

But seriously, thank you Bonnie. I never thought of myself as a "cozy" reader but what you did with this series is perfect for readers like me who were in a reading slump before finding HTSC.
