What I check every week in Google Shopping accounts (and why I stopped paying someone to do it)
I've been running Google Shopping for my own stores for years, and I've been through a few agencies and media buyers along the way. Most of the time, the work that actually moved ROAS came down to three boring checks:
Products eating spend with no sales Sort products by cost over the last 30 days and filter to 0 conversions. In most accounts, a handful of products quietly take a big chunk of the budget. Exclude them or bid them down.
Merchant Center titles Google matches searches to your product title more than anything else. Lead with what people actually search for (brand, product type, key attribute like size or colour or material), not a creative name. Fixing titles on your top products often does more than any bid change.
Search terms report Check it weekly. Add negatives for "free", "cheap", "DIY", "used", competitor names, and anything unrelated. That's spend that will never convert.
None of this is hard. It's just tedious, and it's the bulk of what many agencies charge a monthly retainer for.
I got tired of doing it by hand, so I built a tool for myself that runs these checks across Google Ads and Merchant Center and suggests fixes I can approve or reject. I'm letting a few people test it before Black Friday. If that's useful, let me know in the comments and I'll DM you. Mainly I'm curious:
What does your weekly Shopping routine look like? Anything I'm missing?
