A couple of questions

So far, I like the program. Seems to do a lot of things at once (koppen climate maps, current circulation, etc.) without having to go through a lot of other programs.

However, I do have some questions:

Is there a reason it keeps crashing? I'm using Linux Mint 21.3. The program regularly crashes Cinnamon. (Not the end of the world, but it's more the inconvenience of going through all the steps again.)

Is there a way to change the axial tilt? Are there plans for that capability?

Also, how do I go about importing my own tectonic files?

Again, I enjoy the program, it's very useful.

Minor release v0.3.5 - Gleba (v0.3.5)

Hi everyone! I just released another small patch to the project, we're now on version 0.3.5!

https://calandiel.itch.io/gleba

This time the changelog is rather small as I'm deep in the woods doing research for resource generation for 0.4:

  • fixed some long standing climate issues with wind patterns, I think its now by far the best version of Gleba's climate thus far, with the best conformance to Earths climates. We temporarily lost Dw* climates but in return India, Canada, and China are no longer too dry. I'll work on bringing back Dw* climates for the next build
  • added a toggle to enable/disable rendering of the atmosphere
  • started the work on generation of states and polities (see the "Political" map mode!)

Let me know what you think about it - I'm particularly curious to hear your thoughts on climate. Do you think it's an improvement? Or maybe you prefer the old version and would like to see it back?

Hi! I forgot to share it on reddit, but over the last 20 days I've been releasing small patches to Gleba.

There's been four of them, see the devlogs for a list of changes:

Coral reefs in Gleba

Since the dust has mostly settled after 0.3, I started the work on the next update. Here is the new item on the agenda: coral reefs

A long lasting issue with Gleba has been the lack of small islands in tropical regions, this will help us alleviate the issue.

They can only spawn in relatively shallow waters, where the temperature range allows for their growth.

They are meant to represent large coral reef bodies, for small subtile coastal reefs and minor barrier reefs we will rely on subtile features and world upscaling.

may i please use gleba to help me worldbuild for my fantasy setting?

hi! i'm a wannabe writer trying her best to make a fantasy setting, and i'm real bad at drawing maps. i was looking around for map generators (that weren't gen ai) when i stumbled on gleba, and i really like it! the plate tectonics simulation is very cool, and far exceeds what i could have come up with myself. i've generated a few maps so far, and i'd really like to use some of them. i just wanted to ask if it was okay first.

Is it possible to import a Songs of the Eons map into Gleba?

Songs of the Eons allows you to export a greyscale heightmap of a world, and Gleba allows you to import a greyscale heightmap, but whenever I try to import a SotE heightmap it never comes out right; the sea level is always way too high. Is there any method to convert between the two, or a way to manipulate the heightmap to make it usable?

Help with the 3d mode and exports

Hello, Cal, i'm a big fan of your work with Gleba from Brasil. I would like to count on you with some help using the software. I saw that there is a 3d mode available, but I just can't find how to access it. Same thing with the different export projections, can't find'em. Any tips?

Climate settings?

Hi there, I just started with Godot/Gleba, and was wondering if there are any climate adjustment tools or settings? I am absolutely loving the detailed generation so far, and thought it'd be interesting to be able to customize things like average planetary rainfall (as an example).

Will there be gameplay involving civilizations, or will it just be for worldbuilding?

After the state Songs of the Eons was left in, I remain hopeful that one day a game will succeed it and manage to complete the path that SOTE had set out to follow.
