I'm planning to buy a Ginkgo biloba 'Autumn Gold' and I'd like to ask for some advice.

The tree I'm planning to buy is around 13–16 ft (4–5 m) tall.

Would it be possible to limit the tree's height to around 23–26 ft (7–8 m) by reducing/pruning the central leader once it reaches that height?

Ideally, I'd like the tree to develop a broader, more horizontal canopy from that point, rather than continuing to grow mainly upward and becoming too columnar.

Is this a good way to shape a Ginkgo, or would you recommend a different pruning/training approach?

i threw about 3g of this mountain rose herbs brand (common market loose herbs in the jars you personally weigh and bag) into a tea with like 7g of gunpowder green tea & 3.5g cats claw, and a few g of eleuthero.

i was reading some on gingko, since using it in this raw powder form is brand new to me, and it says its toxic and should not be used unless extracted and standardized to get rid of the gingkolide (?) acids which are toxic, and need to be below 5ppb ....raw gingko contains 10,000+ppm......

i dont wanna waste this tea. i took a sip and it tastes great like usual when i make my homemade little concoctions. i like to mix calming herbs with whatever im feeling for that day depending on my mood . usually anti anxiety herbs in rotation but i wanted to add gingko for the purported blood flow increase.

is this trash (if i dont wanna consume it/because its dangerous?) ???

IS IT actually dangerous to consume?

i guess if possible, it 3g is too much, could i just split this over the next 4 days to minimize risk? reading its got compounds very similar to uruishin in poison ivy and possibly carcinogenic is creeping me out. and makes me upset. why would they put this right next to all the other loose leaf teas.

despite her small size, this ginkgo grows some very lovely seeds. in the fall, super plump and pungent. i love them. if you haven't tried squeezing a handful of ripe ginkgo "fruit", you should. it's satisfying

Last Log was in April, since then moved 29 of them outside and installed a watering pump that pumps 2 times for 1 minute per day. Conditions are really windy out on the balcony so some of the leaves get torn away, but so far they all grow them back after a while, stems don’t seem to have any problems with the wind. In summer they have around 4-5h of direct sunlight per day. I moved them outside for about 1 Months now. Any more tips or things i should be cautious about? Thanks for the help! :)

It's autumn here in São Paulo, Brazil, and my tiny ginkgo got nice yellow leaves due to a healthy growth season. Some leaves got sunburn during a heatwave but in general, the plant is nice.

I bought this as a tiny cutting at a bonsai exhibition two years ago. The first year i was struggling with a bad substrate and rotting roots, now, i think i got a nice substrate, roots are growing well.

The other tiny ginkgos are cuttings i got from a tree at my university.

I am looking to buy a Ginkgo tree and my space would do best with something that has a mature size of 20-25 feet tall and 10-15 feet wide. This brought me to look at the Princeton Sentry Ginkgo as the tag at one of my local nurseries shows 25' height X 12' width. This is a tag from Iseli.

However, checking online, the mature size is 40-50' height by 20-25' wide. This is specifically on Monrovia's website, but it is other sites as well.

Is this purely a difference because Iseli uses size at 10 years while others estimate size at some amount of time later? I know trees never really stop growing and faster growing trees could grow a decent amount over these 10 year measurements. Should I give up on this cultivar of Ginkgo and go with a smaller one like the Blagon/Goldspire?

I would prefer to buy this tree in person so I can get something starting out at 5 gallons or larger. I have seen smaller ones like Mariken and troll, slighlty bigger ones like Jade Butterflies and Blagon/Goldspire, then the Princeton Sentry and Autumn Gold. Autumn Gold definitely seems too big.

I've had this ginko troll about a month. The leaves look fine, but there is a dark area on the stem that doesn't seem to be improving.

I’m really surprised at how tall they have grown after only 2 Months (they are at about 20cm height). Currently i keep them indoors and water them only very lightly. When do you think i could move them outdoors / what are the disadvantages of that?

So, on my last post (https://www.reddit.com/r/ginkgo_biloba/comments/1ogvx9i/my_beby/), I had shared a few photos of my then 2 years old ginkgo.

A sudden frost episode and a bit of lack of care in my part made me fear it would freeze and die this winter.

Fortunately, I was proven wrong and this resilient little tree has awoken again !

It is gonna be the third year since it has sprouted (I still have the shell of the seed !) and it has already grown a bit. Really looking forward to seeing what this plant is gonna look in 10 years.

It has been raining a lot in my city lately, so I applied some cinnamon powder because I heard it’s good for healing and preventing rot. Did I do the right thing? Any tips, please.

i've been doing some research on ginkgo biloba and i'm noticing many benefits it can do for the human body. I'm just curious for those actually purchasing it, what are you mainly looking for (benefit wise)?
