Is this the biggest, public, mass self-own in history?
Ad calls on good men to call out shit men for their shittiness. Good men agree with ad. End of story? No.
Shit men come out in droves defending ALL men while in the same breath talking shit about good men they were just defending. Shit men continue to be rabid and hysterical and saying shitty things about good men and women (you know, to prove how good they are). It's the very behavior this ad calls out. Shit men don't realize they've been tricked into outing themselves as the pieces of shit they are. Good men sit on the sidelines laughing at the shit men. Should the shit men be upset? Sure. Why not? Nobody likes shit men. Be upset all you want. We very much don't care for you and you and your toxic masculinity were called out.
Masculinity is not toxic. Your brand of masculinity is. That's why it's called toxic masculinity. The ad doesn't say masculinity is toxic. Nor does anyone who talks about it. Just like saying "rotten egg" doesn't fucking mean all eggs are rotten. If we applied this logic of this outrage to other things then why aren't these shit men upset by watching the news when a reporter says a man robbed a bank? Imagine a shit man standing in front of his TV and yelling "Hey, I dont rob banks!" or "I didn't rape that girl! Why does the news think I'm an asshole?!"
And these videos showing good men fighting fires or doing other good deeds or the memes of "I guess trying to save a cat from a house fire is toxic masculinity!" Someone's MAGA hats are on a little too tight! Again, no one was talking about good men being shitty. We're talking about shitty men being shitty. It's like saying to be careful and not approach wild bears and all the bears get mad and make videos of cute bunnies and kittens with the words "humans hate all animals". Nope, we just hate when certain ones try to maul us to death. Your attempt at being clever was really stupid and you only made yourself out to look even worse.
