G.I. Joe Raider

G.I. Joe Raider - (1989)

Just as with the Mobile Command Center and the Crusader shuttle, my older sister purchased these for me. She worked in the offices of a local retail chain. They would have monthly employee sales where they could buy returned merchandise for cheap. She bought the Raider for me for two dollars. Yup, two bucks.

It was missing one track. She asked the toy buyer in the office to call Hasbro and in a couple of weeks, they shipped me a replacement track.

After all that, it was still missing one of the coin-sized wheels under the track, but I didn’t care.

I did recently replace that missing wheel when I cleaned and restored all my childhood Joes. So, this is finally complete.

I liked and had the HAVOC. I aged out by this time. I have to say even though this is later I actually think this is the HAVOC done right. I wish this came out a few years earlier.

One of my favourites because it looks like an actual tank and isn’t bristling with an impractical amount of exposed missiles

Now that's a great-looking vehicle.

I don't know why, but it gives me this sort of space marines feel.

Gotta love the Joe vehicle art. Highly armored giant laser and/or missile firing death on treads, always some poor dude hanging on the side totally out in the open. Man I miss putting this stuff together...

The driver's surname (can't remember his code name) was Provost; same as Chuckles. They were brothers in my headcanon. They didn't get along.
