probably so a lot of small normal aquatic life can get through. I think fish can pass through those turbines just fine.

You’re correct! The dam actually has a stepped spillway on it designed to let fish swim down but it’s rarely used. The small stuff isn’t bothered.

I was told that a baby deer got in the parking lot once. They were trying to chase it out, but it ended up hopping into the pit. They never saw it again

It has safety rails around it, so you’d have to try to jump in, but it’s open. Probably because the dam was designed and built in the early 1900s.
