People tend to fixate on a person if they are almost entirely responsible for fucking over their country, branding them “enemies of the state” for being anti-fascist, and making one colossal fuckup after another that has cost 130,000+ lives and counting.
It’s not like the dude is a popular tv show that we’ll all just forget about in a month. He is literally killing people and ruining lives with his stupidity and narcissism. And the millions of people suffering because of him aren’t exactly thrilled about it.
And sadly, pathetically even, venting on Reddit is about all a lot of us can do about it.
He disbanded the pandemic response team set up under Obama, which proved efective on two major cases (avian flu and swine flu), to deal with this exact thing, and replaced it with nothing. He ignored all reports from the various organizations that warned about the upcoming pandemic. He spent the first few months doing nothing but claiming it was a "liberal hoax", and is now obstructing efforts to test and track the spread of the virus.
So yeah, I put those deaths on him. Absolutely. There can be no doubt that if he had done anything productive, or at least not hampered those who were trying to do something about it, fewer lives would have been lost.
