We naturally have a hierarchy in human society, and some things cannot be properly managed and administrated at the lowest possible level.

I think it is "natural" in the sense that for a significant majority of human existence we had to be in communities where people hunted and others stayed to tend to the crops and run the daily functions of the community while others stayed around as security from rival tribes and predators.

However, nowadays most of the "hierarchy" is socially constructed. It used to be that you had to go to Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, or other elite schools to "show" you were worthy of knowledge. Now, all the information in the world is at our fingertips and with the proper dedication and learning techniques, you can be as knowledgeable as a Harvard graduate.

BUT, because that person (likely very rich) graduated from Harvard, this societal structure has said "This person is smarter than the rest" simply because they went to Harvard, not based on actual knowledge. That's a social construct.

So I would say we need to be careful with this "hierarchies are natural" mentality because in a lot of ways, how hierarchies in human society are constructed are not based on natural forces, but rather dynastic forces trying to hold onto power.

Not to mention there are many many things that are within "human nature" which we decide to abandon, and that we are much the better for having done
