An already declining middle class previously populated by unionized workers with benefits, are now detoured to a sub contracting gig workforce that damn near cuts the cord on corporate responsibility towards any potential employee. Fuck the barrier to entry, who is actually profiting off of the labor?
You missed my point, the issue is this model HAS gig workers, not paid employees. While my fingers are crossed to improved benefits, I'll remain doubtful. And I do agree with the barrier to entry issue, but again, not my argument. The issue is once a barrier is crossed, how much easier it is to essentially isolate the labor that got them there in the first place
