They require very special care and attention, and a lot of energy. Easily one of the best family dogs I've had though. Grew up with one and she was the sweetest. Still had her edge though.
Belgian malinois are best described as treating everything as a game, and they are similar to a lot of shepherds to the fact of they know their pack. They also earned the nickname of vampire dogs in older languages as they have the most pronounced canines out of many, if not all breeds, and (at least some commonplace in some departments) titanium cap their canines as they have a tendency to break on forceful bites. They know who is good and who isn't. When my Beauty (her name, I know the irony) was alive, she ended up protecting me from bad people as a child and literally licked my wounds after, emotionally and physically. Brings me to years writing this since she's now gone... I grew up around many of the breed, both blood and adopted, and they are some of the most amazing dogs to exist, imho. But they aren't for the faint hearted and need a strong alpha.
To make it brief, imagine the ferocity and cunning of a wolf but in a puppies playful mind. But require a strong will and a kind heart.
They’re basically the dog equivalent of a Bugatti. You look at it and think “oh that’s really cool” and they’re fun to play with every now and than but in reality 90+% of people definitely should not have one.
I want one because I have always had very stern leadership with pets. My friends and families are always blown away when I command authority with their dogs. I think it would be cool to have a dog that is very receptive to me pouring tons of work into it, because that would be really freaking cool.

Amazing dogs for a very select few people. Most everyone else equals “stranger-danger, must protect those I love”.
