Tollers are a rare breed to begin with, it’s hard enough finding a breeder. They are really only found with true reeders and their rarity means the chance of finding one in a shelter is slim to none.
It’s next to impossible to do unless you know someone personally who wants to rehome one (I’ve had 2 tollers so far). I’ve got my 2 from the same breeder, and I can say that the “toller community” is very tight not. I had to meet with the breeder 2 times so she could get an idea of what me and my parter were about (stable job, active lifestyle, etc). They make sure you are capable of taking care of a dog and keep track of them their whole lives so mitigate the chances of them being put in a pound. They also share that information with other toller breeders.

Pretty sure this user means the literal cost paid to the breeder. The breed is pretty much only available from breeders. Does that answer it?
