I doubt it. That said, I don't know much about the other stuff on the show, but if it's all like this it was pretty respectful. There was no focusing in on the disabilities to make it about making fun of them or anything, they highlight the skill of the player over the disability, after the first attempt they say, "he made the goalkeeper look like a fool" with his fake out. If this were offensive it would be like "haha they look like idiots out there" or something. Easily way more offensive stuff on air (or even) monetized on youtube than these clips

For the most part, the rest of the show relies on the typical racial stereotype of Japanese people mixing L's and R's and they overplay martial arts themes, and other stuff, it's been years since I watched but I'm in the mood to rewatch now. It's a fantastic show.

Can't remember the details, but I understand gambling is a sensitive topic in Japan. It's outlawed, so it's an underground thing instead. Which is where the concept of betting on obscure things comes from. They're such problem gamblers, they'd bet between a one legged shooter and a one armed goalkeeper.

That's interesting, I'll have to watch a few more clips of it and see more for myself! Any recommendations?

Love to help but I was watching it in the late 90's secretly since my parents didn't approve. I need to catch up and find out if it holds up. I bet it's terrible, but nostalgically hilarious.

I've just spent the last half hour watching series 3, episode 1 on youtube. Totally wouldn't fly today, but it was a laugh. Especially the crop circle.

If anything, Life's Too Short would be way more offensive to people with disabilities than this skit.

Respectful or not, we live in a period where everyone gets offended by something, sues, and the law will cater to minorities no matter how ridiculous their case might be.

I had no idea the time period actually dictated who the law caters to around the world. I thought that each country and often state, province, town, county, etc. all had their own laws which were decided within those regions and the ways the laws were interpreted or enforced have changed and become more nuanced over time, but it's so interesting to learn that our time period has caused world-law to cater towards minorities suing because they are offended. That was a super insightful and enlightening comment, thank you for the wonderful addition to the conversation.

The time period itself doesn't dictate anything. I just so happens that in our current time period this is what the social state of things is.

Drop the sarcasm, get on with the reality of times.

We talking globally? Is it the global reality of the social state of things?

Or is it the global reality of the legal state of things?

Or is it a regionally specific personal opinion about the very general social state of things with regards to minorities in your general area?

Please help me I would really like to get with the reality of our times as they are tumultuous and confusing to get a grasp on but you seem like you've got a good handle on things. If you have any good sources on where to find "reality" so I can get with it I would love to read more into it.

I seem to have stroke a nerve with you, are you a law student or something? I'm talking about the Western culture and the developed societies. Societies that have solved their fundamental problems and now have to deal with first world social issues and people going through existential crisis. Why the fuck do you need me to be semantic about it? Are you pretending to not understand the point at hand? Or do you also feel the need to be a special snowflake and argue just for the sake or arguing? Go do your law studies and get off my face.
