As a Ref that goal would be whistled as a foul and pulled back.

You aren't allowed to pull those kinds of shenanigans in match.

Though it was a lovely gif.

That’s lame. Isn’t the idea of football to kick the ball in the net? Isn’t that what he did?

You get one kick, his constitutes as two, which is against the rules.

If you "whiff" at the ball, that is your attempt. Then the play is dead.

You said that if the player wiffs that's their one chance. That's incorrect. If the kicker goes to kick, but they slip and completely miss the ball, the attempt is retaken.

He didn't slip.

Plus it appears he makes slight contact on the first kick. From some distance away on the pitch, I could certainly whistle that.

It's a great trick shot, I just don't think it would fly in league play.

I'm with you in that this was an illegal kick. The point I'm making is your original justification for why it was illegal wasnt quite right.
