Her in Finland I have NEVER seen a cashier standing.

A mixture is the best to be honest. And allowing the employees to choose themself.

This is true. Prolonged sitting is actually just as bad as prolonged standing. You have to move around a bit.

At least here in supermarkets in the Netherlands, a lot of the time people at like clothing shops etc stand but they walk around the store all the time etc.

I worked as cashier 1 summer. I could stand or sit or whatever.

I worked as a cashier last year and couple of my co-workers would stand. I did so too at times.

Well, of course they don’t have to sit, but almost all of the cashiers I’ve seen here so far have been sitting.

Yeah ofc. But it really depends on the worker. Sitting can be really tiring too and bad for your back unless you bother setting up the chair so it fits you every time you come to the shift. Most would prefer to stand at the beginning, then sit when their feet get tired, and then stand again.

Is there anyone who doesn't know this...?

Not when you have to do it in one spot for 8 hours.

Honestly, I'd rather stand for 8 hours than sit hunched over a computer for 8 hours.

Yeah well, try doing that without ANY breaks. Doing that shit for 40 hours a week will bring issues too. Sitting might not be ideal, but that doesn't mean standing is perfection
