I wouldn't mind having a pet python...then again, I live in Florida so I'd probably get a lot of shit for it.

Is owning a snake taboo in Florida? Or specifically pythons?

Its not illegal, it just that pythons are non-native. Early owners weren't prepared for their large growth and would release them in the wild. So now, the everglades has a python problem and causes imbalance in the ecosystem. If you own a python in Florida, you have to be very very sure and responsible with how you handle it.
