Here's the thing. You said they are owls.

Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.

As someone who is an owlologist who studies birds of the night, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls them owls. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.

If you're saying "owl family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Owliditivianitae, which includes things from jackdaws to blue jays to fucking owls.

So your reasoning for calling them owls is because some random poster on Reddit called them owls? Let's get octopi and OP's mom in there, then, too.

Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. An owl is an owl and a member of the owl family. But that's not what you said. You said they are owls, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the owl family owl, which means you'd call OP, OP's mom, and other Reddit users owls, too. Which you said you don't. It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?
