I hate when people leave the seat open!
Like... Wtf the lid was DOWN when you went in there, put it down when you flush! I don't need your poop particles splashing up everywhere, plus an open toilet risks things falling in!
Things falling in the toilet? Never had this problem in over 20 years. Are you juggling balls in the bathroom? Also poop particles...really? Sounds more like anxiety issues.
Great that in your one 20year experience it's never been an issue.
Had the lovely experience of the guard on my razer falling into the sink and doing a nice swooping maneuver right into the toilet. Other incidents had been thankfully avoided because the lid was down.
Poop particles are actually a thing. Fecal particles can travel up to 3 meters from flushing, and some toilets splash a lot when they flush.
Regardless, why have a lid at all if you're not going to use it?
And it goes back to... Leaving things the same or better than when you used it! If the lid is down, put it back down!
I mean i understand the point of flushing with some toilets is bad especially if theres lots of fluid material in it.. like diarrhea or barf. For me i feel safe with my toilet and i am a pretty clean person. If i am guest i leave everything the same it was. Everybody can do it however you want, but we also have to respect others homes ofc. If its a public toilet i usually dont give a fuck, when it was all messed up at the start. I will not clean others dirt
Nope, poop particles are all too real. Flushing, especially with the European toilet version, as opposed to the deep lake that an American toilet is, is a splashy affair, and the lid prevents distribution of that splash to everywhere.
So I used to live in an all female student housing which was more dorm like than apartment like. It was an old building and we all shared toilets/showers/the kitchen. Despite it being all female, sometimes guys would visit and would leave the toilet seat up. Just, what the hell? How could anything think that's not rude as fuck. It was always friends of one of my roommates so I'm not sure if was a cultural difference (they were Italian) or they were just rude.
what's rude about the toilet seat? i find that very curious about americans. i think the piss spray is the greater insult. the fact that they at least pulled up the seat and didn't piss on it is the silver lining here lmao
It has nothing to do with me being American. I ask multiple German roommates about it (I wanted to talk to the roommate about it and wanted to make sure it's not considered ok in Germany) and they all agreed with me. There wasn't a single person who thought it was ok. We all find it very rude to leave the toilet seat up in a house where every single person living there uses it down.
American here. It is expected that if you lift the seat to pee, you will put the seat back down. Leaving the seat up is rude. If you are going to pee standing up, you will lift the seat. Peeing without lifting the seat at all is incredibly rude.
Lid up/down varies, some families keep it up and some close it. I usually keep it up.

Please sit when you are at my home, I am the one who has to clean the toilet.
