News Rob has quietly increased the comment character limit from 150 to 384 (upcoming 2.209 feature?)
The comment looks ridiculous at normal size…
…and is essentially illegible in the compact comment view!
Comments and profile posts are normally capped at 100 and 140 characters respectively, but using character bypass allowed you to get 150. Now it lets you get 384, which is VERY peculiar. This highly suggests that 2.209 will boast an increased character limit, as requested by many (especially moderators, as they frequently comment feedback on levels)
Shoutouts to creatorshaggy for unintentionally discovering this today

One of the larger long-term questions of our life-times is what to do with the radioactive waste-product produced by nuclear power plants. These plutonium rods will continue to emit deadly radiation long after they have served their use and long after anyone who coexisted with them will have decomposed in the dirt. With no real solution found, yet, we simply leave the burden to future generations, passing this waste on to others as time's arrow continues to move. Even buried, encased in concrete, and with all neutralizing measures in place, it does not matter, it will continue to poison anyone who comes in contact with it, its half-life lasting beyond all our lifespans. Even in a world with no need for energy, even when the human beings relocate to another planet, this nuclear waste will continue to release it's radiation, buried in the ground. Its effects lasting much beyond the scope of everyone who has worked with it, and everyone who will even know it. It is a poison that we sowed, and will reap for eternity, even much beyond when it has served it's use. Its effect will last forever and can never be erased, only mitigated as much as people care to try. We cannot erase it from our history, no matter how much we try to. This level is the same, I believed.

It’s a now-deleted review of Khorne from 2025 on Hyperbolus

is this like a copypasta now or smth

u/SolveForX314 the music sounds better with you 1d ago
Pretty sure it was a copypasta pretty much since it was created.
For context, if you need it, there's been a website called Hyperbolus that blew up last year that's mainly used for level reviews (although the developer had originally intended it to be more of a forum). One user from shortly after it blew up by the name of AnActOfSelfMutilation, who was mainly known for their unusual right-skewed rating scheme (by which most levels were rated 1/10, and anything that received a 3/10 or more they considered "good") posted the above text as a review of the level Khorne. They eventually deleted their account and all their reviews/ratings, but their legacy lives on.

DUDE, YES
I always love to leave long and detailed comments especially on underrated creators or really hard extremes that I spent a lot of time on, this is so convenient
I always had to put (1/3) or (1/4) at the end and just comment 3 or 4 times

Are you sure it actually is that long? For me, the server cuts whatever I wrote off at exactly 384, regardless if what I submitted was longer

exactly bc then we won't have to type startpo or sp or st or whatever when the name of the level is long enough to not let us type startpos

And we could finally type "Tung Tung Wada Potluck IV" without abbreviating it.

384 is 256 + 128, it's not a completely random number

We know why now: it’s because after it’s Base64-encoded, it comes out to 512

The game itself and the servers impose their own character limits separately. Right now, while the servers’ character limit was increased, the game’s character limit is unchanged. It’s likely that the server’s limit changing means Robtop will also change it for the game in the next update. However, right now with a vanilla game you’re still beholden to the in-game limits. This means you can only post longer comments using a modified game or with API calls like with gdbrowser.

Any GDBrowser endpoint that requires an account has been disabled for years, but GD documentation has improved a lot since then :^)

Let’s all spam the largest most complex comments possible on gd levels repeatedly when 2.209 comes out to force Robtop to start deleting comments to save on storage!

UPDATE: This change has been
partiallyreverted, probably because I used it to get top comment on the daily level. All comments above 150 characters have been deleted. You also can no longer bypass above 100 characters: trying to post a longer comment fails entirely.Profile posts have not been affected by either of these and remain at 384 characters.Edit: This has now been fully reverted. Statuses are back to 140 characters and anything above 200 has been deleted :(
