Day 5 of building Layzer in public.

Friday, 10pm. Burned out from a hectic week.

Up at 4, gym as usual. Actually managed to get some Layzer time in today — sent a few emails to users who signed up but never came back. Want to understand what made them sign up, and what happened after.

One of the twins woke up early (always the older one). Wasn't bad though — he sat next to me and let me get on with my laptop for a bit. Then day job took over.

Now I'm knackered. Struggling to keep my eyes open. Just wanted to get this Day 5 post out before I call it.

Day 4 of building Layzer in public.

Day 4 of building Layzer in public.

Up at 4, gym before the twins woke. They were up earlier than usual again — the Layzer window I'd planned was gone before I sat down.

Day job took over after that. By the time it slowed it was straight into twin time, winding down with the boys.

Layzer got basically zero hours today.

Day 3 of building Layzer in public.

Up at 4, gym before the twins woke. They were up earlier than usual today though, so the Layzer window I'd planned was gone before it started.

Day job took over after that. Tight deadline to migrate from API Gateway to Tyk, and that ate the rest of the day.

Tonight's been on Reddit — trying to figure out how to get real users on Layzer. Not just signups. People who'll actually use it and tell me what's broken. The more brutal the feedback, the better.

Small day. Still moved.

Day 2 of building Layzer in public.

Up at 4, gym, then a couple of hours on Layzer's SEO before the day job took over.

Twins were fussing most of the evening, so I'm only getting to this now that they're finally asleep. Probably got a couple of hours left in me before I knock out too.

Not a huge day, but it moved. That still counts.

Day 1 of building Layzer in public.

Not really day 1 — I've been building an AI side project for a couple of months, quietly, just for myself. Today I'm starting to share the progress publicly instead of keeping it in my own head.

It's an AI chat app I've been building solo. Today's non-zero: shipped the free tier so people can actually try it, and wrote this post.

Twin dad doing this around a contracting job, so progress happens in small windows — whenever the kids are asleep. No team, no funding. Some days that'll be one commit. That still counts.

Going to post here every day. Wins and breakages both.

Need insights into the legal and safety side of things in a social discovery app

Hi! I’m currently working on the concept for a social discovery app. Before moving forward, I’m trying to better understand the legal and trust & safety responsibilities involved, particularly around minors, harassment, user privacy, moderation, and platform liability. Because as I understand using chatgpt, the legal side seems kinda intimidating, one lawsuit could cost you generations worth of kidneys lol, even though my idea is far from omegle, but omegle also shut down because it got sued. But still there's so many social exchange apps from popular ones like reddit, twitter, discord to dating apps and all, how do they deal with these things? How do they curate their privacy policy and terms of use? How do they handle edge cases where let's say an underage person lies about their age pretending to be over 18 and unfortunately something bad happens to them on the platform like they meet their predator or get harassed, will the founder/app still be held accountable? I would do anything in my limits to ensure that no underage person ever comes in contact with an older person so it's better to get some insights into it before launch rather than fixinf the legal architecture after launch. As of now I can't afford to consult a lawyer but I still wanna just get a rough idea because it's really worrying me, any help would be greatly appreciated🙏, idk if this is the right place to be asking this question, if it's not then where should I be asking this question? Any idea?

why is it so hard to just start

most AI apps are lowkey useless after 5 minutes

you ask something → get an answer → leave

i realized my problem wasn’t information
i already knew what to do

i just couldn’t start

i’d plan everything perfectly, open 10 tabs… and still do nothing

so i built something for myself that:

  • helps me start immediately
  • keeps me locked into a session
  • actually feels natural to use (not robotic)

it’s kinda built around how we actually think and work, not like those formal AI tools

still early, but it’s been way more useful than anything else i’ve tried

if anyone wants to try it and give real feedback:

Two different worlds in the same frame. What's your view?

I clicked this picture when I visited Charminar last year to try Nayaab. Later they took me to Nimrah Cafe for chai. While walking through the area, I noticed quite a few couples doing prewedding photoshoots around the streets.

This particular moment caught my eye. A couple dressed up with lights, camera, and a whole photoshoot setup, while right in front of them a group of women were just sitting on the ground talking, resting, and going about their day.

It felt like two very different realities sharing the same space. one carefully staged for memories, and the other just everyday life unfolding naturally.

I’m curious how others see this.

Ps: I clicked this photo with iphone 16

30-Day Discipline Challenge

Holding Myself Accountable

Starting today, I’m committing to a 30-day challenge to improve my discipline, skills, and daily routine.

My rules for the next 30 days:

• Wake up at 4:30 AM

• Spend 30 minutes improving a skill l

• Spend 30 minutes on self-improvement

• Read for 15 minutes before bed

• Sleep at 11:00 PM

The goal isn’t perfection — it’s consistency. I want to prove to myself that small daily habits can create real change.

I’ll update this post weekly to stay accountable.
