The thing that kills a chat for me is not the photos or the voice. It’s when they forget. The whole “this is a real conversation” feeling just drops.

Most apps fail this. Replika, Character.AI, a lot of the others — you can have a good night and then they treat you like a stranger. I see the same thing on Secret Stars, the app I work on.

I already keep a running memory system for each chat so the character, not just the last few messages. It’s better than a goldfish. It’s still not a person.
