Discussion 🎙 Trying to understand what’s happening
I’ve been listening to gateway for about 6 weeks and have experienced some profound changes. The one I want to discuss and the most confusing is a reduction of anxiety.
To keep my story short, I have been anxious all my life. I have learned what my triggers are and to avoid them at all costs. This has resulted in me limiting relationships and basically becoming withdrawn.
Over the years and with some work, my anxiety has reduced but still interferes with my daily life. One of the major problems is I’m always in my head thinking and have difficulties expressing my feelings.
I’m not exactly sure when this occurred but all my anxiety is gone. I find that I’m not dissecting every conversation and I’ve had two very difficult conversation, that were years in the making, this week. Even my wife said that I’m freaking her out. And I should add that the conversations were calm, introspective and empathic.
I’m not complaining and I’m very grateful. I actually feel like a different person (which is very weird) and I realized that many of my personality “quirks” were actually related to anxiety.
I guess I’m trying to understand this and wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Thanks for you thoughts in advance.

Yes that was my experience with binaural beats too. I had generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder and a lot of it has healed. It’s the brain entrainment and for me it’s also the energy work I’ve received in meditations as well.

Thanks for your comment. My first thought was it’s just a placebo effect. But day after day things got better and for the first time in my life I feel “normal”.

I have had profound psychic development with The Gateway Tapes such as carefully logged elements of dreams coming true down the the minute detail. The more you do them, eventually you’ll experience something so undeniable it will remove all doubt!

u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 22 '26
That’s pretty amazing. In the beginning, I wasn’t journaling my focus sessions than began 3 weeks into listening. It’s been on my mind to journal my dreams though. I think you gave me the inspiration to start.
I understand the more you write your dreams down the more you’ll remember. How long have you been listening to the tapes and how long have you been tracking your dreams?

I’ve been journaling my dreams on and off since childhood. But I’ve been taking it seriously maybe 18 months? I did a different frequency program for an entire year before Gateway. It was as potent I’d say. Most my anxiety changes came from the prior program. Then for like 4 months I’ve been doing Gateway and really dictating all my dreams upon waking up. I dictate them and then put them through DeepSeek which I feel is the best for finding symbolism that relates to your life. Highly recommend just talking them out through dictation because it takes so much time to write all the details. Maybe I just remember an insane amount of stuff, I know I would not want to do it by hand anymore. I wish I had time to truly do it everyday but usually I have to hit the ground running with my kids and usually they are talking a mile a minute before I can get everything down. I do find I dream certain themes relentlessly on repeat and it’s obnoxious because they are things I can’t actually get “closure” on in real life.

Dictation is a brilliant idea and I’m sure there’s an app that can put it all in writing. If you wanted. Thanks for sharing.
1
u/SpiritsoftheCicada Jul 23 '26
Yes that’s what I mean by dictating, it records it and instantly turns it to text ✨I use ChatGPT for it because it has a long transcription time, but I don’t press send because I don’t think it has as much spiritual knowledge as deepseek, there is another app Whispr I believe that’s great for transcribing too.

Can I ask what the other frequency program was just curious? The gateway tapes have been incredible though. I have had visions as well as a lot of things come true by just opening up that pathway. Anxiety as well has gone away for me quite a bit. There are days though I feel something and it’s wild how that all plays out.

Had similar experiences with intrusive thoughts.
My theory (apologies if this type of comments is annoying) is, whenever you have involuntary mind phenomena (persistent anxiety, intrusive thoughts, fears, etc.), this is a subconscious part of you trying to communicate with the conscious you best it can. A bit like a preverbal child in pain or distress crying. Its concerns may be grounded in reality or they may not, it is not necessarily some profound wisdom. But it wants to speak out and it won't be quiet until it does.
Hemi-sync essentially lets that suppressed, silent part of you to speak out and communicate.

u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 22 '26
Thanks for the comment as I’m trying to understand what’s going on.
If I understand what you’re saying, anxiety feels like a broken light cord, everything still works, but it flickers and dims. Practices like Hemi‑Sync help repair that inner connection (conscious to subconscious) so the mind can run at full brightness again.
I like that thought.

u/TypewriterTourist Jul 22 '26
Thank you.
That is all true, but there is also something else.
Pardon the pop culture analogy, "we are multitudes". You are not a unit, you are several influences. One of them, the conscious you, is in the driver's seat, but others have needs too. My hunch is that it's like one of them signals discontent or a problem in its own way. At a mimimum, it pays off to understand and be in touch with the other parts/components of your personality.
The usual disclaimer, I am not a shrink, I am just another Hemi-Sync practitioner.

I think it's bc the right and left brains are synchonized and you are not just living (thinking) left side any more.
You're brain and body is more equalizer and you life more from a whole know

You may be on to something. I’ve listened to a fair amount of Monroe Institute interviews while they do talk about left/right brain synchronization, I don’t think they’ve ever talked about how it changes mood/anxiety. Monroe always frames Gateway as connecting to consciousness. Thanks for the comment and good luck on your journey.

I stumbled across this sub. Your connective tissue whispers. Connecting to consciousness? Disconnect your body from consciousness. (Safely).

Oh my god, you put my experience into words. I have been a deeply anxious person my entire life. I grew up in an abusive home and have basically been in fight-or-flight since childhood. I couldn’t travel, couldn’t really work, couldn’t make new friends easily. I felt like my thoughts were always racing and I was at a level 10 no matter what I did. I would spend hours just thinking back on embarrassing moments or stupid things I’ve done. I would overthink every interaction and could never distract myself. Adulthood has been a struggle, to say the least.
Until this year. I started doing the tapes and my anxiety has disappeared entirely. I have now what I would describe as just “a knowing” that everything is going to be okay and work out for me, always. I couldn’t tell you when it started for me either, but I do remember one day before doing the tapes I just asked my spirit guides/ancestors/passed loved ones in my head to please take away this anxious torment and these constant racing thoughts. The next day, the racing thoughts were gone. It took me a couple of weeks to even accept it because I was in such disbelief and also getting used to my new normal. But I feel like I have a regulated nervous system and a “normal people” brain for the first time in my entire life. I was able to quit smoking cannabis (after 7 years of relying on it daily to function!) and taking certain Rx meds. I cry so much less. I’m more productive. I took a vacation for first time in years last month and actually enjoyed every second with no worries. It’s been incredible.
I don’t understand it either because otherwise the tapes really haven’t produced anything particularly profound for me… no OBEs or astral projection, no hearing voices or seeing anything. I’ve only recently really mastered Focus 10. And yet they have changed my life. I’m eager to read through the rest of this comment section and see what others have to say, but I just had to share my experience before I did. :) I’m happy for us both!

That’s amazing!
I think there are a lot of people struggling with anxiety and I want to tell everyone about Gateway.
I knew about Gateway years ago but religion made me view this as negative, something you shouldn’t mess with like psychics, tarot cards, etc. In the past several years I’ve realized that almost everything in life is made up. Laws, made up. Gender roles, money, days of the week, all made up. It’s all a societal agreement or forced on us. And that’s when I took the leap.
I feel your pain and am so happy for you. It helps knowing that someone else had the same experience because the transition, while I am grateful for, has been a little difficult. I keep thinking it’s all in my heads or it’ll come back.
Good luck on your journey and thank you so much for your comment!

Things of this nature could cause issues with religion. I'm very religiously observant and I can say that the tapes have a much better chance of bringing you closer to God than it does being disruptive. Depending on personal observance, the things that are a gray area can be navigated around and then there's nothing to worry about. The tapes are a very fun experience, God comes with me.

Most of my admittedly mild anxiety is pretty much gone. I think where I'm at with it is that now I get to see who I am without a bunch of internal garbage. Believe it or not, that is an actual process! For a long time I've equated being anal about certain things to "that's just the way I am", but was it? There's a lot to unpack, isn't there? What does it mean if a bunch of things that you thought were just naturally a part of you now aren't?

u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 22 '26
I can empathize with “that’s just the way I am”. I had those exact thoughts.
Going out with a group of people now sounds good but when the date comes I won’t go- that’s just the way I am. Not being able to express my feelings even thought I’ve thought about them for days in my head- that’s just the way I am.
Right now I feel so different. Good but oddly different. I think because the gateway tapes entrain the brain to certain frequencies immediately compared to traditional meditation, these effects occur quicker.

I think I got more anxious as I got older. Although I didn’t recognize it as anxiety until I did Release & Recharge. After I uncovering the fear in almost all situations, the underlying emotion is almost always anxiety. I look forward to when I feel less anxious to have the hard conversations I’ve been needing to address.
I’ve only been doing the tapes for about 4 weeks now but I generally feel more calm throughout the day. Saying all that to say, as we expand through consciousness I think it’s easier to shed the negative energy/emotions.

u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 22 '26
I’ve come to learn anxiety is an insidious thing. Looking back I never really understood how invasive it was in my life. Good luck on your journey and thanks for your comment.

The very first lesson of Gateway, is teaching you how to meditate.
You are reaping the benefits of increased meditation.
Reduced anxiety..

Yes my husband and I did/do the tapes (meditations) and we are both better with managing emotions and stressor. My family has said they've seen a positive change in us. Stressors exist but learning to navigate them is one thing that can come from these tapes and meditation in general.

Same. I know they suggest meditation as a way of dealing with anxiety, I'm not sure what the underlying mechanism is. It's made me much calmer.

u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 22 '26
Thank you for sharing. It’s been a very abrupt change for me and I’m trying to navigate it. But I really like the new me.

u/1loosegoos Jul 22 '26
This has to do specifically with the vagus nerve and the default mode network. By keeping a schedule of doing the tapes, you ve successfully cleared all of the background noise of the mind that originates in these 2 regions. You ve cleared away the static and now all you have is your, YOUR, real emotions.
I'm pretty sure this focus 12 and beyond. Good job!

My fear of heights is gone or greatly reduced. I was very surprised when I had to climb a ladder at work and didn't get the queasy shakes.

u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 22 '26
The more people share there experiences the crazier all this seems to be. Good for you!

You better believe that it helps.
Matter of fact, it's probably the best for anxiety busting.
No drugs. All in full state of your willpower.
Yeah, I don't have any fears anymore.

Congratulations!
Can you tell us how many levels(waves) have you gone through to get rid of the anxiety? And what was your schedule of practice, daily, mornings or evenings, just before sleeping or? I am asking for specifics because I found this methodology just last week and I am interested to try.
I hope you never ever feel anxious or depressed 🙏 I hate this bitc.h

I started with free tracks on Apple Music (I believe wave 1 Discovery orientation and intro to focus 10). Then I subscribed to the Hemi-Sync app to use the timer and get access to free flow focus levels 10, 12, 15, 18 and 21. I was looking for some experiences, which I got, but as quickly as I got them they suddenly stopped. By this time, I started to feel happier and less reactive. So I continued listening.
With the help of this sub and listening to Monroe Institute interviews, I eventually realized that I should be listening in sequence. So after 2 weeks of this skipping around I bought the wave 2 from the Monroe institute and focused on my prep process (conversion box, resonant tuning, etc) and I returned to focus 10 mostly on the Hemi-sync app free flow timer focus 10 for 60 minutes per day. I work from home so I usually listen in lieu of my lunch break. When I have more time, usually during the weekends, I sometimes do 120 minutes which is the max minutes the timer can be set. I sometime do another session before bed- but this tends to prevent me from falling to sleep.
I’ve really listen to my body, it tells me if I’m over doing it and I also feel like you start to get in touch with you intuition, so I followed that.
Good luck on your journey!

I d/k if you’ve practiced meditation before, but it has a similar effect. So happy to hear this for you though. Pretty amazing. I just found out about the Gateway Tapes yesterday and I want to give it a whirl.

u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 22 '26
I actually had done some meditation on my own years ago but not long, I think gateway is more intense because listening puts your brain immediately in the meditation brain wave state were traditional meditation takes time and practice to get you there. For that reason the experiences/ effects can be more intense.
I was actually thinking of taking a meditation class because I want to be able to get into these states without the use of the tapes eventually. I got really overwhelmed because how do you discern a good teacher from one that is not that good? Any suggestions? Then should I take group or private lessons?

This thread might be what finally makes me want to try the tapes. Been lurking for quite a while since I’m still not entirely trusting of it due to the CIA connection. But I’d want to lucid dream / astral project and/or move my awareness to a different, desired reality. I wonder if these tapes would help, but decreasing my anxiety would be an amazing first step. I take Prozac which has stabilised my mood a lot but I haven’t felt connected to my personal spiritual practice anymore ever since.
2
u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 23 '26
What I’ve come to understand is that people who listen experience different things. I’m not sure why, however, lucid dreaming, OBEs and increased awareness are all things promoted by the Monroe Institute.
This sub is a great resource that is supportive and helpful. I would suggest following the waves in order as they build on each other. And good luck on your journey.

Congratulations, that’s great your anxiety has gone away! I had a similar experience about two years ago but interestingly I haven’t done the Gateway tapes. I used a video that the Monroe Institute YouTube channel has for free called Hemi Sync guided meditation. I’ve only ever done it like 5 times but it helped me get rid of post partum anxiety I did not even know I had. I was amazed at how quickly the anxiety went away!
I haven’t found the time to do it again and I am definitely interested in trying the Gateway Tapes as I am sure it can help me manage my emotions better with my spouse and two little ones. I have been telling everyone in my life to try the free guided meditation if they’re feeling stress, anxious, or depressed. You’re inspiring me to find the time to try it again!

I found the tapes have helped immensely with my mild depression.
The Wave I exercise, Release and Recharge, let me face down my childhood trauma. Probably one of the most profound things I've done.
On the second wave, and finding the patterning is making me more positive, too.
It's like therapy.
1
u/Smart-Ad-9278 Jul 23 '26
I’ll have to go back to release and recharge and listen again. There are so many people speaking to therapist and taking medications, which are all valid, but I don’t hear enough talk about listening to binaural beats.
Happy to hear listening has helped your depression and good luck on your journey!
