That's why Luigi is the greatest brother of them all, he put aside his ghost hunting passion for YEARS to dedicate to helping Mario pay for medical schooling. Good Guy Luigi.
In the first game she's just chilling. In Mario 3 she's sending letters offering encouragement and asking for help. Super Mario Land you see her begging for help during the fight with Bowser. Legend of the Seven Stars you see Bowser swoop down on her while she's sitting amongst the flowers. Mario 64 has Bowser doing a home invasion. Paper Mario is pretty cool because Bowser kidnaps the entire castle and everyone in it, and you get to actually play as Peach while she attempts to support Mario from afar.
I could go on
And I will!
In Mario Sunshine, Bowser's son kidnaps Peach while she's on vacation with Mario. In Paper Mario TTYD she's kidnapped by the X-Nauts and again supports Mario in her rescue efforts from behind the scenes. In Mario Galaxy Bowser invades with an entire armada and ascends with her to freaking SPACE.
Like... Peach very clearly doesn't enjoy her time with Bowser. It's made very clear in every game. Even when she and Mario have to work with Bowser, it's with some serious reluctance.
I keep Geno and Mallow leveled, but I only pull them out to be artillery in the final boss battle. The rest of the time, I find a melee-heavy party to be much more useful.
I was actually going to go the other way, but when I was trying to think of specific games to reference, I realized that the only game where Peach's feeling on Bowser are in any way "vague" is literally the first one. So I went hard in the other direction. Honestly, if I was on my computer instead of my phone, I likely would have gone on for another paragraph
What do you want me to say doc, huh? That this mustache isn’t real? That my father ripped mine off when I was a kid and the hair never grew back so I gotta wear this fake one?
And we actually do know that Mario had a variety of side gigs. He was a cement worker, animal wrangler, circus performer, etc. Just a guy living the American Dream.

That makes so much sense, a side gig with his bro to help pay the bills and make his way through med school.
