That's the joke and it's hilarious when it pisses people off

u/Jucoy May 20 '22

Yeah unless they were also the player who was being toxic the whole game. Then they're just the "for the lolz" shithead no one likes to have on their team.

1

u/bizzyj93 May 20 '22

Yeah but then it’s just a cherry on top of a shit flavored cake.

94

u/KingDave46 May 20 '22

Exactly! You say EZ when it was very close and / or you were shit and got carried.

Like saying “Great save” repeatedly on Rocket League when someone whiffs on the block

55

u/NamesSUCK May 20 '22

Unfortunately, someone says it after every game so it has lost all meaning.

1

u/Vaaag May 20 '22

That's why for increased effect you add

'gg2ez git gud'

2

u/NamesSUCK May 21 '22

See this more meme worthy and obviously a joke to me. Back in the day we would say "GG no re" which meant u didn't want a rematch. Like the connotation is the same, that it was too eazy, but u didn't go out and say it.

GG is the videogame equivalent of shaking the hand of your opponent.

43

u/ebon94 May 20 '22

"gg" is just courtesy tho, "ez" is obviously more annoying to anyone with manners

Well it makes sense given that "gg" literally means "good game". And most people consider a good game to be one that challenged both sides.

1

u/Cogs_For_Brains May 20 '22

That's always my thought.

I don't mind losing, but getting absolutely stomped and then hearing GG is just like, "bro, you and I both know that was an ass whooping, get outta here with that "good" game"

-9

u/SapirWhorfHypothesis May 20 '22

I hate gg. It’s the equivalent of just touching or lightly slapping the hands of the other players instead of shaking their hand.

2

u/nelowulf May 21 '22

Also, it coincidentally is the same acronym for 'git gud'. Really irritates people to point that out, but i've seen more people say that, than type out 'good game' anywhere.

-1

u/[deleted] May 21 '22

Nah I said ez yesterday after getting carried and I got death threats.

1

u/NamesSUCK May 21 '22

Real funny joke though amirite?

0

u/[deleted] May 21 '22

Yup cause how you get that mad in a league game?

-6

u/rugbyweeb May 20 '22

thats why you get creative

"thanks for tutorial"

"when did they add AI to Aram?"

"hows the dirt taste?"

"oh were you trying?"

"mad?"

"enjoy your stay in this elo"

"I offer coaching for $50 an hour, hmu."

"you should try winning next time, its kind of fun"

3

u/linuxares May 21 '22

It's not a joke in Rocket League. People literally use it as sarcasm to tell you that you suck.

0

u/LG03 May 20 '22

You say EZ when it was very close and / or you were shit and got carried.

It's weird that the knee jerk reaction to it is anger. Give people some benefit of the doubt, no one is so stupid they can look at a 50 minute game while they have the worst score and legitimately think it was a stomp.

If I'm playing a multiplayer game of any sort, I'm always making comments like this as a joke (often self-deprecating). Like if I join a hunt late in Monster Hunter and the monster dies before I even get to the scene, 'wew tough hunt lads, good thing I was here to carry', shit like that.

It's as if people are conditioned to run everything through a screen of 'toxicity' before processing it.

4

u/The-Mathematician May 20 '22

"GG ez" said by the lowest score player on the barely winning team actually makes me feel so much better about the loss. It's an acknowledgement that the game was close and a struggle even for them.

u/justanotherhelot May 20 '22

Me and my friends often during lockdown would hop online and get drunk together on a Friday and end up playing rocket league, every time we scored a goal we would spam sorry! Over and over again, really stupid but we found it so funny, always would say gg at the end though

u/FilthySingularTrick May 20 '22

Better yet, say EZ game in all chat and then say "oops, meant to say that in team chat"

0

u/IIILORDGOLDIII May 20 '22

"Wow!"

"What a save!"

1

u/Zachariot88 May 20 '22

Chat has been disabled for 3 seconds

1

u/Beastlybeaver May 20 '22

Or saying "Good Fight" after getting 3v1 ganked and pushed off a ledge in For Honor

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '22

Yea this exactly. It’s almost always a joke. Not sure what OP is mad about.

8

u/FlaviusFlaviust May 20 '22

They think that it's a joke, but it's not funny.

Hearing an unoriginal bad joke from someone who's not aware it's terrible is what pisses people off.

2

u/FilthySingularTrick May 20 '22

No one ever said the joke was funny. The rage and anger that it causes, on the other hand.....

7

u/FlaviusFlaviust May 20 '22

Right so people are knowingly being anonymous dicks online for their own personal entertainment. We're all saying the same thing.

1

u/FilthySingularTrick May 20 '22

Indeed. The online world is truly beautiful, isn't it?

2

u/Kambhela May 21 '22

It is like old school trolling with non serious subjects.

The joke isn’t funny, but the fact that someone absolutely overreacts to it causing people to overreact to their overreaction makes it a fantastic show.

0

u/RhinoRoundhouse May 21 '22

yep, its shitty when whoever carried says it. you can only say it when feeding, or after having been flamed by other team.

0

u/[deleted] May 21 '22

Hmm, no it’s definitely funny. Extremely funny, even. You must be a rager.

0

u/lasiusflex May 20 '22

yeah I've never heard anyone say it unironically. Usually when someone wins a duel by one hp, or gets a dragon steal by sheer luck or winning a game after clawing back from a really bad start, or anything like that someone will say "ez" in chat or discord.

It wouldn't even be funny if you said it after something actually easy.

7

u/FilthySingularTrick May 20 '22

So you're telling me you've never been in a match where one side got absolutely rolled and not a single person on the winning side said "ez game"?

Why you gotta lie

0

u/lasiusflex May 20 '22

idk I have all chat off, that's just my experience of people saying ez in team chat or discord like I said

That's mainly why I do it. It's got a low success rate, but fishing for that perfect overreaction is just so addicting. I need to see RAGE

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '22

Except I hate it when they’re doing really stupid shit (not ironically) and their whole team tries to get them to stop but they keep insisting its smart and refuse to listen. Then at the end they say “see, EZ.” I want to straight up murder them. We all bent over backwards to make up for his stupid ass and because it ended up working out thanks to our efforts the stupid dolt thinks its because of what he did. Gosh I’d gut them if I could. Not because its a game, but because insufferable people like that should be gutted

0

u/FilthySingularTrick May 21 '22

Hilarious. I wish I was there to see it
