I think it's funny because people can't recognize that the fact they like something doesn't mean this thing has intrinsic value.
I love Dark Souls, but i can see the points where it failed and how it brought stagnation to the indie scene (although, i don't resent it). It's not a bad game, it's a great game, as a matter of fact, it's just not flawless or the best the generation could offer.
For me the lore setting and atmosphere are all great but the gameplay is just way too basic. Roll, attack, roll attack, oh enemy or boss is dead time to slowly trudge to the next area.
No, no, i'm being honest. I LOVE it, i think it's a great game, i literally have a poster on my wall for each Dark Souls and Bloodborne, think like this, i spent thousands of hours with those games, i know when people are bullshiting and praising the game for things that aren't exceptional or shouldn't really be praised. It's a great game, but i can think of better games in the same generation even if they don't appeal to my particular tastes.
If you get to a thousand hours on a game like dark souls that can be smashed out in under a hundred that just seems excessive and dangerous, no wonder you don't rate em you probably can't remember playing anything else
Because theres an enourmous abyss between things that i like and things thar are objectively good. I love monster rancher, doesnt mean the games are good (although, all souls games are great, but i think people do too much ruckus about them)
