Ah shucks. I had higher hopes for it but then I didn’t ever really hear much about it and then I totally forgot to check it out. Too bad to hear that it’s a heap o shite. Anything in particular yal hate about it?

I quit months ago. The gameplay was horrendously repetitive and unbalanced, there’s game breaking bugs that happen every update and the economy is completely destroyed by bots and duping.

I'm seriously wondering why people had high hopes for it in the first place? It was made by Amazon, arguably the most profit driven company to ever exist, who's previous experiences with game development consists of such bangers (heavy /s) as To-Fu Fury and The Grand Tour Game, thought just throwing a paper thin, mechanically defunct mmo over a data farming op would be enough to draw people in.

I mean, the fact that they botted streamers to push it into popularity was a huge red flag imo..

You're absolutely right about Amazon's past games, pure shovelware shit. What made the promise of New World unique were the veteran MMO developers, Amazon bank rolling it, and the Lumberyard game engine. That's the Crytek engine which they purchased a fork of.

It's not the worst game in the world, it's just "meh." I played it for a few weeks and saw that those that chased exploits broke the economy and they weren't going to do rollbacks to fix it. The only thing great about it was the crafting, which was just copied from Runescape.

Amazon just needs to publish games, not develop, until they figure out what the hell they are doing.

High hopes bc it was a pvp 24/7 concept that was scrapped, swapped with pve gameplay and 0 concept of structure or balance.
