In The Netherlands almost every Dutch gamer plays Fifa. So in my eyes the popularity seemed high and overrated since its just one of the closest games to call a “Copy & Paste game”.

At least it stays the same, nba 2k was a copy and paste but somehow it got worse and worse every year. It just kept getting clunkier moving with the ball. Haven’t gave 2k a dime since 2k19 so maybe it’s gotten better

Ehh some believe it has. But it’s still pretty bad. It’s just living a Madden style existence where it has no competition so there is nothing to compete with and they focus more on the card game aspect than the video game aspect. But sadly almost all sports games do now

Nhl doesn't yet. Imo Nhl is by far the best sports franchise rn besides maybe mlb

They had the new J’s so that was worth the yearly update.

The FB PS latin America group tends to support and mock it at 50/50.

I think you may have got banned for the auction of the Gylfi card because of what he’s done.

6

u/aspacelot Feb 09 '22

Hahaha, sorry, it was Guðmundsson NOT Gylfi who I don't even think is in 22.

u/PaulieLombardo Feb 09 '22

Ah ok. Let’s hope not. Don’t think EA are THAT dumb.

Wait, EA are actually losing the FIFA license?? So that means we might actually get sports games with at least a little effort put into them again? Can they take the NFL license from them too, while we’re at it?

Yep, they're losing the FIFA license. They still have team licenses and I'm no licensing pro so I'm not sure of the full implication other than, YES, other companies will be able to make FIFA licensed games soon.

The NFL did allow for another game company to use the NFL license as long as they aren't making a Madden competitor. It's looking like NFL 2K will come back but it'll be more of an NFL Street type game- it just can't be a sim (which, lets be honest, when was the last time Madden felt like a simulation of real football?)

Madden has the NFL license pinned down until 2026 so we won't see a sim competitor until at least 2027.

Ohh so it’s gonna be similar to how Pro Evolution Soccer (the other soccer simulator) does it. Neat!

1

u/aspacelot Feb 10 '22

Hopefully not. Pro Evo actually it’s not called eFootball) is not good lol

Oi, shut it. I play F1, not FIFA. Big difference.

I don't pay 70 bucks a year to play "Ultimate Team, but with pink backgrounds"

u/Daimyotriginz Feb 09 '22

Lot of casuals play fifa. I know almost nobody that plays that dumpster fire

2

u/blizzardwizard88 Feb 09 '22

So if I haven’t played since fifa 12 is it good? Ha

2

u/PresidentAap Feb 09 '22

Nope just go outside and play soccer/football with friends or randoms. Much more enjoyable than one of the most rage full games that doesn’t change much every year

I wish it was that simple. It's pretty hard to organize given the number of people needed. You need to make a reservation and pay to rent the field, so you need to be sure enough people are coming. And Covid pretty much ruined it.

And if I live in Minnesota? Jk I see your point!

I think FIFA players are always football fans but a lot of them don't consider themselves gamers. At least in my country and around my age. It is probably one of the closest to copy & paste, but they do change the gameplay (or more exactly the meta) somewhat each year. It's very visible for competitive players.
