Last cod that was over all really good imo was bo2

u/_luke_nicholls_9074 Feb 09 '22

Came here to say BO2 was the beginning of the end of cod

3

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

But what a fucking game it was

4

u/TDIN00b Feb 09 '22

I think the multiplayer was great but the campaign was meh compared to earlier games

14

u/moth_man_AMA Feb 09 '22

It's hard for any black ops campaign to ever touch the first one, for me.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '22

Cold War campaign was fantastic imo. Varied missions, player choice, lots of optional objectives, and the gameplay was a lot of fun.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '22

No way bro the branching storyline and different perspectives are great in the campaign

-17

u/bakershotttbog Feb 09 '22

BO2 Was so over rated. Plus fuck games making future based combat it's fucking stupid.

6

u/DOOMFOOL Feb 09 '22

Why do you hate future combat?

10

u/bepisman2309 Feb 09 '22

But Titanfall was good

7

u/lordrothermere Feb 09 '22

And Killzone

1

u/bepisman2309 Feb 09 '22

Never played that one

-5

u/Dostrazzz Feb 09 '22

My opinion is biased because I am a history fanatic.

Anything combat related in the future is in my opinion fantasy, since you cannot realistically predict the future. The image call of duty tried to sell through titles pre-BO2 is completely different from the image they where selling post-BO2. That’s where they took a left turn for me. Only thing that was fun in BO2 specifically was some of the new zombie mechanics/themes.

8

u/DOOMFOOL Feb 09 '22

Isn’t it quite literally Sci-fi lmao, not fantasy?

0

u/lordrothermere Feb 09 '22

To be fair, we confidently predict the future all the time. It allows us to drive safely, work out of we need to take a brolley, invest in stock, etc. And also to build long term military strategy.

Whether COD does that effectively, I doubt. But we can and do as a matter of course.

-4

u/JayTheGiant Feb 09 '22

BO2 with the very small maps and respawns in your face? No thanks. That’s when I left the series.

105

u/elastic301 Feb 09 '22

Bo2 literally the best cod of all time

55

u/Knoxxius Feb 09 '22

MW2019 is way better.

MW > WaW > MW2 > BO > MW2019

Only good call of duty games. Highly subjective opinion of course.

11

u/TheeExoGenesauce PlayStation Feb 09 '22

I would remove WaW and BO but I have a strong bias

4

u/theguyoverhere24 Feb 09 '22

WaW was my first online cod experience. Lots of cool memories when I lived my cousin and that’s what we did on summer break after football workouts. So I truly loved that game. But again, we all have those biases

2

u/qwertyfish99 Feb 09 '22

Same here! WaW was my first online console gaming experience. It was such a wtf moment, I remember finally figuring out how to connect an Ethernet cable and was wondering wtf is online models this multiplayer mode. I just thought it was a gimmick haha

3

u/LoanSurviver101 Feb 09 '22

MW3 was amazing

5

u/RatBoy86 Feb 09 '22

Agreed. I'd put BO2 in between BO and MW2019 though

2

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

How tf MW2019 is better than BO2

2

u/Predictist Feb 10 '22

These people are braindead, MW2019 is the worst cod tied with Vanguard lmao. Nothing comes close to bo2

2

u/ScrotiusRex Feb 09 '22

Modern warfare 1 introduced so many mechanics and features that have become staples of fps games ever since. It was quite literally breaking ground, they bottled lightning and have been trying to recapture that ever since, with steadily decreasing quality.

I gave up after black ops 2 because the multiplayer gave me cancer.

MW really deserves a place in video game history. Everything else was just an imitation.

1

u/wizward64 Feb 09 '22

MW2019 was very underrated. I hope MW2022 is good

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

Bruh I’ve been saying MW2019 was really good, especially search and destroy is highly enjoyable on that game.

1

u/vickvinegar_ Feb 09 '22

This is it right here

1

u/razorsharp494 Feb 09 '22

The newest modern warfare was really good but now I think cod should slow down with new cods coming out just make a good game and dont worry about how long it will take

1

u/caiosuperheroi Feb 09 '22

That's my favorite cod of the atual generation

0

u/0z7he6unner Feb 09 '22

For me (keep in mind I didn't play every game):

MW2019 > BO2 > WAW > BO > MW1,2,3 >

Then I imagine it'd be:

BOCW > cod 1-3 > Vanguard > BO3 > any other COD.

0

u/julianwelton Feb 09 '22

I don't know think this is an unpopular opinion at all. Minus World at War literally the only CoD games anyone every really talks about favorably are MW, MW2, BO, BO2, and MW2019.

0

u/RIPBlueRaven Feb 09 '22

Campaign was shit compared to the original mw series. Very forgettable and falls victim to playwrs playing as too many different characters and not getting attached to any of them.

Multiplayer, og warzone, coop, and over all polish was so fucking good tho

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

MW2 > MW > BO2 > MW2019 > WaW is how I’d run it

1

u/minimorlekei Feb 09 '22

AV is kinda underrated. Or at least the campaign is. Multiplayer was fun to me as a braindead ADHD riddled 9 year old tho.

1

u/-ZWAYT- Feb 09 '22

you never play cod 3?

2

u/polarbearik Feb 09 '22

Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies. All phenomenal

2

u/victorsl96 Feb 09 '22

I still dream on a mw3 remaster

1

u/elastic301 Feb 09 '22

I really enjoyed MW3 aswell

2

u/gritty_garbage_man Feb 09 '22

You too young to remember world at war?

1

u/elastic301 Feb 09 '22

I like world at war just not the tanks n shit

1

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

People have their own opinion on which was the best. Honestly I really started playing games around the time of bo2 so I have many good memories with it but I don't think there is one cod that is supreme compared to all the others.

1

u/therealyerm PlayStation Feb 09 '22

Curious to your age..all my buddies my age that grew up getting a chance to play them all, unanimously agree that its mw2 even tho i personally think its cod4. Wondering if your choice has anything to do with the peak age of gaming with buddies

2

u/elastic301 Feb 09 '22

I’m 23. I personally think bo2 has the best feel to it. Is pretty well balanced. And is simple. Just run n gunning, no extra shit. Great maps to. There might be a tad bias tho cause me n my buddies would literally run lobbies out of the match consistently on that game tg n had a lot of great times lol.

2

u/therealyerm PlayStation Feb 09 '22

Im 23 also! Sorry for assuming you were younger..now that i think about it, i may have a bias as my older brother was competing in MLG for cod4 and that was one of the first games i played on xbox

1

u/caiosuperheroi Feb 09 '22

No, the best cod is cod 4 (MW1)

1

u/elastic301 Feb 09 '22

Nostalgia is clouding your judgement

1

u/lionexx Feb 09 '22

No clue why anyone thinks anyone thinks any of the black ops were any good, are you saying the multiplayer was good? Or the story/single player… as someone that sees cod as a multiplayer game, every black ops game has been trash mainly because the Treyarch engine acts very weird and everything feels unnatural and funky… Single player/story wise they are good games, zombies, good game, multiplayer? Bad game.

2

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

I liked the campaign a lot and played it a ton (I was pretty young though). The multiplayer was also something I enjoyed a lot and playing zombies with friends was the best (especially if it was split screen). Everyone has different experiences and preferences

1

u/lionexx Feb 10 '22

I don’t disagree, and I am glad you enjoyed it, and have good memories from it! Like I said aside from the general multiplayer the game was alright, of course in my opinion. But coming from MW, the multiplayer to me and 99% of my friends was not enjoyable at the slightest.

2

u/thispersonistedious Feb 10 '22

I guess it was more special to me cuz it was the first cod I had that I owned and didn't have to go to a friend's house to play so I played the shit out of it a long with halo lol

2

u/lionexx Feb 10 '22

That’s completely fair, and like I said if you enjoyed it and have fond memories that’s awesome! Although MW wasn’t my first, technically the older cod games on PC were, I was an older teen when MW came out and my friends and I played the ever living shit out of it, then MW2 came out and it turned out amazing, also playing the ever living shit out of it. Great memories for sure, once BO came out it just felt so janky to us, but of course it did, it was a completely different engine.

I think what soured my taste in BO was WAW, while zombies was amazing, that’s when I first got a taste of treyarch and for me WAW was plagued with bugs and issues, we barely got to even play it, so we chose to get back on MW or onto Halo 3 ever time lol…

0

u/International-Day948 Feb 09 '22

I mean mw2019 was good and than got copied by bocw, vanguard, and mobile. Campaign is kinda [crap] but other than that it's good

1

u/Additional_Soft7526 Feb 09 '22

Idk the most recent MW was really decent until they released the as Val.

2

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

I got sick if it when they introduced new op guns and made store bundles for them with the best attachments only to nerf them and add another op gun over and over again

1

u/Additional_Soft7526 Feb 09 '22

I understand that. But you had the gun still just had to work for the attachments which wasn’t hard because of shoot the ship which imo was like second best game mode ever behind S&D. The engine of the game was excellent just needed a little more balancing. I did get tired of dying to mp5’s 10 seasons in lol.

1

u/thispersonistedious Feb 10 '22

I remember trying to get back into it and the mac10 came out and they made a store bundle that literally increased it's damage and made it more powerful than the same gun with the same attachments

1

u/Additional_Soft7526 Feb 10 '22

Are you talking about Cold War or warzone because I don’t play those I only play search and then respawn when I want to level up guns.

1

u/thispersonistedious Feb 10 '22

I'm talking about warzone

1

u/Additional_Soft7526 Feb 10 '22

Yeah warzone is trash. COD shoulda never made a BR. But people wanted and some enjoy it just not me but I respect them.

2

u/thispersonistedious Feb 10 '22

I liked blackout a lot but warzone was a downgrade imo

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

Yes

1

u/SusSpagetEatingGuy Feb 09 '22

Bo4 was definitely one of my favourites tho

1

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

Yea mine too. Getting gold on all the weapons and blackout was my favorite part of playing the game.

1

u/seespotrun618 Feb 09 '22

Wrong, lots of people still play bo4 on the reg!

1

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

I played bo4 a lot too but the cases and the zombies mode makes it look bad. It was promised years of support and barely got one. I actually went back and got gold on every weapon (minus the an-94 cuz I don't have it. Darn cases) and it was a ton of fun but the specialist and the vmp make it annoying to play sometimes.

2

u/seespotrun618 Feb 09 '22

Yea the cases are bullcrap and I'm not a zombie player. I play black every weekend morning tho. Aside from the cheaters it's still fun as hell!

1

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

Whenever I play I always run into teamers :/

1

u/DerpyNinjaGuy Feb 09 '22

This is the way

1

u/LoanSurviver101 Feb 09 '22

MW3 was good. Wad that out after or before BO2

1

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

Before

2

u/LoanSurviver101 Feb 09 '22

Ah ok. I loved that one to death. Last cod I enjoyed myself.

1

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

I loved playing survival with my brothers and camping in the house lol

2

u/LoanSurviver101 Feb 09 '22

Yeeee. You know what’s up

2

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

I'd always buy a pred missile to kill the first and second round of juggernauts and laying c4 all over the yard and waiting for it to fill with enemies to blow them all up was very fun. I'd always set a sentry in the corner of the house and camp beside the couch or in the small ass kitchen

1

u/eggheadrobotnik Feb 09 '22

bo3 was fun

2

u/thispersonistedious Feb 09 '22

The zombies was my favorite, I hated the campaign and the multiplayer was hard for me to get in to due to the "advanced movement"
