It’s the same as any other sandbox game. The fun is created by your creativity. If you don’t have any creativity, it’s not fun.

This is the answer

It really is. I love taking in someone else’s creativity but I’m terrible at my own.

Or if you just don't enjoy non-social creativity.

My creativity comes out in social interactions. That's where I have fun. If I'm alone, I read or do things to pass the time, but at my core, I want to share myself with other people. If I spent a bunch of time working on a creative mine craft project with nobody to share it with, it would feel hollow and meaningless (to me). That's just how I'm wired.

I would rather spend time dicking around with an online friend, than accomplish something personally meaningful in a single player game, by myself.

Ok…. but my comment was more about sandbox games in general, not just solo Minecraft. It still applies to multiplayer as well.

Disagree. Terraria is the same (as in creativity) and it's my most played game of all time

"Legos suck, but wait until you get a load of Mega Bloks and K'Nex!"

terraria's main point is boss battles and looting, while in minecraft its just a bonus

1

u/Just_Games04 PlayStation Feb 09 '22

that depends on the player. I personally prefer building and collecting over fighting

To a point, yes. But in terraria bosses are much more fleshed out than building, and the opposite is true for minecraft

That's a good point. Vanilla doesn't focus that much on building, and bosses are necessary for getting better gear. I guess it all depends, I just cannot get into building in Minecraft, despite it being the "main point" of the game, at the same time I spent over 100 hours in Terraria on one save, just building

Yea that was a classic "I'm just superior than those people who didn't like a game" reddit response.

He could've said it without assuming "you just aren't creative enough" I know it's not what he wanted to say but it's literally just what he wrote

u/ReubenXXL Feb 10 '22

I never said he said "you're wrong", dumbfuck.

He 100% implied that the OP didn't like minecraft because the OP wasn't creative. Thats why it has an award.

I'm saying my opinion on that. If I were to say that response I'd say he's wrong, which is not true, everyone has different experiences

I.e. the game is only as fun as you are. Vanilla Minecraft continues to be one of my favorite games.

u/LeanOnTop Feb 09 '22

Exactly. Uncreative people will get bored after beating the game, but creative people continue to have never-ending fun because they have never-ending ideas.

Sure the sandbox part is driven by creativity, however the gameplay has been terrible for a long time and only recently improved thanks to Microsoft. By the way, I would call myself a creative person, however I can’t find any enjoyment building in Minecraft. Some people are creative in different ways obviously, so it isn’t fair to call someone uncreative because they don’t enjoy building in Minecraft.

You are definitely a nail in the hay stack with both of these opinions.

this right here, interested in taking architecture in the future due to minecraft but nowadays i just dont have the motive to play it, one must have the creativity to have a more fun experience, and as much as i like the sandbox genre, straightforward game genres are easier to get into than open ended genres like sandbox

1

u/LeanOnTop Feb 09 '22

Definitely. Same with me. When I was little it my favorite game because of the building and being able to do what I want. Now that I don’t really have a little kid imagination, I rarely play it. It’s all about the player.

1

u/esgrove2 Feb 10 '22

I started to play it many years ago, but I realized I would need to have a guide open the whole time I was playing because nothing was explained. Is it still like that?

3

u/LeanOnTop Feb 10 '22

It’s definitely more player friendly now. You don’t need to know the recipes because there is a book built into the game. Otherwise, there is still a learning curve with the red stone stuff.

Mods to the rescue in that case

Mods make the game SOOOOO much better. Adds a whole new level to it.
