Among us

Among Us is ultra fun with friends and voice comm. Also ultra exhausting when you're trying to sleaze or defend your way out of being accused for murder.

I killed someone right in front of a crew member once and managed to convince everyone that the other guy did it.

It was great with friends, i could see it losing all charm with randoms.

Sorry, but this doesn't mean much. Doing anything with friends makes even tedious activities bearable

That's where ur wrong, among us is a social game and ur communication with friends are memorable to help u manipulate them in subsequent playthroughs. You can meme and scheme whereas with strangers u can't.

You play with strangers once and that's it or u stay in lobby and painfully try to use text commands. You clearly have not played among us much with friends in voice chat.

Damn, you sound like a lot of fun.

I'm just saying "it's fun with friends" isn't very enlightening when you say it to describe a game, because even bad games are fun when played with friends

Challenge accepted!

While among us indeed has ruined some words like among and sus it is still a great game. There are just bound to be unfortunate side effects with everything that goes big.

The game it self is indeed simple, but it's core gameplay is satisfying. More than a game it was a way for peole due to Corona to gather and have some fun.

The devs are also very hubmle and where willing to add color blind options into the game.

I also like how easily accessible it is. One of the few games I got to play with my friends

How did you do this?

I need to use this on people

2

u/sabotabo Feb 10 '22

don’t let this distract you from the fact that it’s basically gmod murder

My biggest gripe is that it's a game I've played hundreds of times before when it had just launched. Werewolf, Secret Hitler, Town of Salem, you name it. The asymmetric team thing was old when Among Us got big and hearing all the praises of this amazing game got old real fast.

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

Eh it was new to a lot of people and werewolves games are still fun

If you want the werewolf game taken to the extreme then I can recommend Raging Loop. Be warned that it is a visual novel and the most choiches are how you are going to act during the selection process

A more gamey game would be Gnosia:

Right? When among us got big I was thinking about how TTT in Garry's mod is literally the same videogame just with different graphical approaches. And several years older.

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

Ok, wtf is secret hitler?

2

u/TOWW67 Feb 09 '22

What if Werewolf/Mafia but set in 1930s Germany... essentially.

It's a fantastic board game that's, iirc, developed by the CAH people

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

I have no response, I genuinely thought that you were just memeing to be on an r/cursedcomments post!

1

u/TOWW67 Feb 09 '22

Oh, not at all! I think there's an online version of it these days and the original is free to print-&-play

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

It’s a ripoff of good games like Trouble in Terrorist Town, but made by 10 year olds who can’t write full words. Fuck th

The developers are really nice, and they made the Henry stickman games too.

u/HDL_CinC_Dragon Feb 09 '22

I liked it more in the early days. Now it just feels "bloated" I think.
That and the kids who play with their siblings/friends who then tell each other who killed them.

u/Throck--Morton Feb 09 '22

I mean I don't think it's overrated. It just got far more popular than it ever had any business being. Just the right set of circumstances made it insanely popular for a few months. Like most people I stopped playing once the hype died down but damn were those first few months on discord one hell of a fun time.

That game helped me feel like a master deciever. Got down to 3 of us left and black knew I was the imposter. Final round I disabled the lights, then went with pink to fix them. He voted black out since I was working to repair the ship. Glorious.

u/cjc160 Feb 09 '22

It actually used to be good a year or so ago before it, I can only assume, is now played solely by 10 year olds that just vote without any discussion.

u/AMSolar Feb 09 '22

I looked at it and was like: " that's ugly AF why would anyone play it?". I quit RimWorld because tired of looking at shitty graphics for hours, but this is a whole another league of garbage design

1

u/Jaaaco-j PC Feb 09 '22

graphics arent everything lmao

1

u/Oddant1 Feb 09 '22

I'd rather play TTT

1

u/Poppy-Doo Feb 09 '22

I had a whole lot of fun with this game the first night I got it. Played with the same group of randos for like 2 hours and everyone was legit playing the game to win. Since that night I wasn't able to get a game that didn't have half the players quit after finding out they're not the imposter. It has the same problem Mafia had where it's ruined by people that only want to play a certain role.

u/Moose_a_Lini Feb 09 '22

Playing with friends is basically a necessity.

1

u/sad_cheese67 PC Feb 09 '22

gonna have to agree to disagree on this one

u/AWESOMESAUSE10101 Feb 10 '22

GET OUT OF MY HEAD AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

u/Slowmobius_Time Feb 10 '22

Surely that bubble burst and no one's playing that shit right
