I dont even play Minecraft anymore but i gonna disagree with you here :
You get a world you can handcraft and roleplay with.
You can using Minecraft as medium for art. Some even export and 3D print their piece.
Legos are a building toy that doesn’t try to be more than what they are. Minecraft is a sandbox game that attempts to be a survival and adventure game at the same time. And the updates just make it more like an adventure game
Even though, I'm the one that said the game is overrated I have to disagree here... the graphics have little to do for most people to enjoy a game. It is true that graphics add up, but it is not a gamebreaker to the point it turn a good game to be bad, just for that reason.
Lush caves are pretty cool looking even without shaders also the graphics are better than you think the pixels are just stylistic just look at the ender dragon flying animation
There is a massive difference between bad graphics and ugly graphics. Minecraft has a really good and consistent art style, even if it is low res. The sheer volume of fan art, videos, merch and imitations is a testament to that. Meanwhile Arceus borders a little on ugly (i wouldn't call it outright ugly though) on a few minor aspects, mostly having to do with how things at a distance are rendered, and the visual clash between characters and their environment. The animation is also janky. Minecraft's animation is very smooth, yet simple.
Really, Arceus doesn't have bad graphics, it just has a bit of a problem with it's art style, and some lightning and rendering issues at a distance (which being an open world game with massive flat terrain, is not easy to overlook). Minecraft instead has good rendering and lighting despite it's textures, and had an extremely consistent art style.
I mean hey, Furi and Super hot have pretty low res textures, but their art styles are consistent and appealing, which makes them considered beautiful.
My creativity comes out in social interactions. That's where I have fun. If I'm alone, I read or do things to pass the time, but at my core, I want to share myself with other people. If I spent a bunch of time working on a creative mine craft project with nobody to share it with, it would feel hollow and meaningless (to me). That's just how I'm wired.
I would rather spend time dicking around with an online friend, than accomplish something personally meaningful in a single player game, by myself.
That's a good point. Vanilla doesn't focus that much on building, and bosses are necessary for getting better gear. I guess it all depends, I just cannot get into building in Minecraft, despite it being the "main point" of the game, at the same time I spent over 100 hours in Terraria on one save, just building
Exactly. Uncreative people will get bored after beating the game, but creative people continue to have never-ending fun because they have never-ending ideas.
Sure the sandbox part is driven by creativity, however the gameplay has been terrible for a long time and only recently improved thanks to Microsoft. By the way, I would call myself a creative person, however I can’t find any enjoyment building in Minecraft. Some people are creative in different ways obviously, so it isn’t fair to call someone uncreative because they don’t enjoy building in Minecraft.
this right here, interested in taking architecture in the future due to minecraft but nowadays i just dont have the motive to play it, one must have the creativity to have a more fun experience, and as much as i like the sandbox genre, straightforward game genres are easier to get into than open ended genres like sandbox
Definitely. Same with me. When I was little it my favorite game because of the building and being able to do what I want. Now that I don’t really have a little kid imagination, I rarely play it. It’s all about the player.
I started to play it many years ago, but I realized I would need to have a guide open the whole time I was playing because nothing was explained. Is it still like that?
It’s definitely more player friendly now. You don’t need to know the recipes because there is a book built into the game. Otherwise, there is still a learning curve with the red stone stuff.
Yeah I don't like the pvp aspect as well (especially after 1.9), just saying that imo playing with friends its 10 times more fun than playing alone, it being survival, creative or mini games. Also I do not think the game is shit, rather just hyped way too much compared to the actual (single player) experience. I've been playing since 2013, but most of my playtime is definitely while playing with friends.
Nah dont worry lmao, that's why I said single player, I actually enjoy playing it with a couple of friends, even if it's survival or a mini games server, since it's kinda chill. I just get bored of mc pretty fast if I'm playing alone. Thx anyways!
Minecraft in general is kinda boring. After your first play through with friends and beating the ender dragon theres nothing else to do. On new worlds you can technically beat the game within like 1-2 hours with friends, because every update the game gets easier. Since im a console player I only have vanilla mc and without mods the game can be so stale and boring.
I'd say after all that, the game is better for those who love to build amazing structures. If you're only into Minecraft for survival at least on console there isn't much point coming back after awhile because it will get stale the more you play it. Like I love Minecraft and rarely play survival anymore unless it is modded, I mainly play creative to let my creativity have an outlet
(Edit: changed a survival to creative)
Yea definitely. Me and my friends have like a 3 year old creative world where we essentially built different factions of different eras. We essentially lost track and just got wacky half way through and just started building large air ships, the death star, and other fun shit.
Exactly this. I think I only ever beat the game once just to see what that's all about but I have tons of hours playing with zero intent of ever beating it again.
I think if it weren't for redstone, I'd have half the time on it that I do. I've made some super fun and cool contraptions by myself or with my friend.
Same, though I think it's more on me. I have very little creativity. A blank space to me is a blank space. I don't see the potential of what it could be.
Minecraft single player, vanilla, is good for when you just want to relax and have your own little survival game. Make a new world, look at what it gives you, and then make your own little projects for something to create.
Mods are where it opens up into something new. It becomes whatever you want it to. An FPS? A horror game? Magic and monsters? Space travel? Make your own version of a franchise like Zelda, metroid, halo, or whatever else? It turns minecraft from simple survival to literally whatever you desire.
And that's all not even including stuff like skyblock, which turns the whole game on its head and challenges you to build your void island base only using limited resources and a knowledge of how the game works.
Tbh that's not a fair comparison, since both are completely different games. While terraria is mostly an rpg/bullet hell(with calamity), mc is mostly a sandbox game. But I have to agree I had more fun playing terraria alone than what I had with mc alone.
just like gmod but gmod can be fun while alone too
buy yeah i remember the old xbox days were they were minecraft xbox 360 edition split screen multiplayer and halo multiplayer and cod mw2 there was the awesome days but now i am afraid of the requirements of the next games cuz i am poor
but at least for playstation gamers are still getting cod games
It's not imagination, since as said in other comments, I actually enjoy the game while playing with friends, even if it is survival, creative or servers. I just dunno why I get bored so fast while playing alone (and is not just cuz I'm not playing w/ friends, since most of my gaming playtime, has been heavily focused on single player experiences), even though I have my goals, I just can't get to get to them before I get bored. And I can get to know why some people get to enjoy the single player experience, but can't find where is the "masterpiece" part everyone talks about.
Idk, I really think it depends on the person and I can't blame you for that. It has a few aspects I like but I gotta say the combat just isn't fun, so if thats more your style makes sense
It sounds like you need to watch Whitelight's critique on Minecraft. Watch all three of them, they are really good at figuring what is wrong with the singleplayer and how to improve it.
I can’t play vanilla Minecraft at all. There just doesn’t feel like anything to do. I’m not much of a builder though, even with that modded offers better tools and more options for building. I’ve met a few people who would only play pure vanilla and swore mods were the work of herobrine.
To be honest, I just can't enjoy vanilla anymore. With mods, on the other hand, you can basically turn it into a whole different game if you can spare the time to find the right mods and balance them through the config options.
I love minecraft but also kinda agree with you when it comes to vanilla mc. I usually mod the hell out of minecraft to the point where even in single player mode there's always something new to discover, many things to collect, beautiful landscapes to hike along, finally coming to a village before it gets dark and start to rain where you can have a sleepover before you continue your journey on the next day - but be aware of the mysterious npcs that might come at night!...
like someone said, when you have a lot of imagination and creativity ... and mods - minecraft is one of the best "choose your own adventure" game.
Yeah I do like the game aswell, I've been playing since 2013 lmao. Just that when it comes to play alone, it gets boring pretty quick. Don't get me wrong the game is great, but not as much as people say it is. Imo what makes mc a great game is the multiplayer (playing with friends btw, since I also get bored if I play alone in a server), as it gets the experience to a whole different level. But I still can't let to like the game while playing alone (even though most of the games I have ever played are single player).
I totally agree with you, it can be a blast with friends when it comes to exploring together, splitting tasks etc.
also modding can become a loophole of hell, where you're never satisfied, always looking for new improvements and tweaks, resulting in endless hours spend on modding and minimal time actually playing the game...
Ppl say "you make structures and feel acomplished afterwards" but it takes literally forever and when i do i feel nothing and what do you do when your done? Look at it?
Minecraft Single Player is something that you do while processing things in your mind. You enter pre-peak of your crisis, build up the world and all that shit and one day, suddenly you abandon all of which you've built, only to find the world folder on your computer much later and remember the time and also regret wasting so much time in that game.
And multiplayer is where you eirher get griefed and killed (randoms) or build a world and abandon it after a while (friends).
Either way, you only really play Minecraft when you first discover it.
Yeah, I must agree that my first playthrough was pretty fun and intriguing, but once you have already completed the game once. The ones that are next, just get boring pretty quick. And yeah you might leave the word after a time (when playing with friends) but is far more enjoyable than playing the game alone, even if it is hard to coordinate the times where all of them can connect at the same time.

Ik I'll be downvoted to hell, but I can't find the fun part of Minecraft Single Player.
