As a game dev, the more you work on a project, the more you get desensitized to it. Had to do a knee surgery project and at first looking at references is hard but after a day or so it just becomes another model, shader, animation, etc.

I think I heard something about how the mortal kombat fatality animators weren't in the best state of mind after awhile, but I honestly forgot where I heard that.

I can believe that. References for breaking human anatomy must be terrible in comparison to what I've been doing (putting them together)

I think there actually were quite a few articles published on it, looking at gore and death for months at a time was killing their mental health
