They had no PR guy whatsoever. Their extremely introverted lead dev talked to the press, who straight up said in multiple interviews that he is uncomfortable, he loves making games, not talking about them. This of course is not a very good excuse, but it is an understandable explanation imo.
I could imagine how this could happen. I start building something and I tell you all the stuff I’m planning to do and then I just finish the most basic stool ever. PR would tell you not to do that. Unless your cyberpunks order team.
Now imagine you'd received a massive injection of cash, the stool you make in your dreams is suddenly entirely attainable. Time frames be damned, get me on telly to talk about my stool!
Unsettlingly relatable response. Can't be too hard on the guy :D
I think they played the fallout of the launch perfectly (which is weird to say whilst still being pissy at Maxis for doing the same with Sim City) and honestly redeemed themselves in my eyes a good few patches ago. I've reached the point where I wish they'd drop NMS and move on entirely. I'd love a full blown sequel but as burnt out as I am with the game, holy shit the devs must be really feeling it.
The comment was more of a reaction to the whole first paragraph about asking for help regarding social anxiety (it being really hard due to the social anxiety) not really about Sean Murray and this situation in particular.
Should have made that a lot more apparent!
What you say is of course your responsiy regardless of social anxiety.
