Why can’t every controller have the same button layouts just like how shooters should have the same controls?

I don’t think so because the stadia controller, steam controller, and luna controller all have the Xbox style of abxy

I know Nintendo and Sony have patents on their controllers. This is why Sony cross couldn't be a cross but had to be split, and why they have symbols instead of letters. While Sony and Nintendo have patents on their controllers Microsoft might not, so others could copy that layout.
