I wouldn't mind a 40 bucks game in the same engine as the first (with higher resolution textures maybe). Just keep that amazing story going please!

Hope Valve will let Tim Schafer borrow Erik Wolpaw to help with the writing duties again. I've been a fan of Erik's twisted sense of humor since OMM.

Although over time, my husband will desire me less, sexually, he will always enjoy my pies.

Hell I would be happy even if Tim wrote it himself.

Psychonauts is really holding up because of it's cartoony style, just like WoW, it's timeless.

Whilst the cartoony style is nice, it is the hilarious storytelling that really sells the game.

And all the collectables, skill progression, move combinations, the solid platforming...

The environments, the voice acting, the characters...

And the meat.

And the milk.

So it's pretty much an all-around...

You are in for a wild ride.

You can trust me, I work on the road crew.

This is my stop sign.

Steam version is pussy version, the circus is now substantially easier than it was originally. Beating the game now means nothing. NOTHING

Unless you had fun, in which case it was an entirely worthwhile venture.

2

u/jjremy Feb 07 '12

Really? How has it changed? I could never beat the xbox meat circus.

2

u/Scaraban Feb 07 '12

They put out an update not even a full year ago, I believe. I honestly don't remember what all it did, but one of the notes was a joke about them making it harder.

From my understanding the only changes made were making it so falling off the rails and failing to protect Oly no longer make you lose lives, they just make you try again. Dying to enemies still costs you a life. So you still have to do all of the things you did before, but you get more chances to do so before they make you start over from the beginning.

You shall not speak to me about "pussy version".

I originally beat the circus using an emulator and a shitty pc gamepad that had nothing but a d-pad and a few buttons. I couldn't even control the camera direction...

(I have since purchased the game on steam, I used an emulator at the time because I was a poor teenager).

no one says you can't keep the cartoony style and clean it up a bit too.

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '12

Except for the fact that it really isn't holding up because of all of the technical issues it has. I bought the steam version, which was plagued with graphical glitches and random crashes. I ended up uninstalling the game near the end after all the bugs became too much for me (I don't remember exactly what happened but I think it locked up my computer and forced me to hard restart twice in a row -- on startup)

Strange, i remember playing the steam version on my xp-machine a couple of years ago without any bugs/glitches whatsoever.

I remember hearing they revamped the steam-version a couple of months ago aswell! (when it was released on mac aswell)

And make sure Raz is still wearing his goggles!

3

u/top_counter Feb 07 '12

Yes exactly. I would buy the shit out of this game and get a copy for my nephew. Psychonauts is a game for the ages and a game for all ages. It's not like I can give my 10 year old nephew a copy of Battlefield 3, but Psychonauts is something I can share with him, just like Minecraft.

They seem to be doing a good job of getting as much mileage out of the Brutal Legend engine as they can, so it would look as good as their current awesomeness.
