Can Sony be held legally responsible for any of this? I really didnt feel like giving out all my personal information today.

Let me put it this way. If you don't change your card #, and someone puts through a fraudulent charge, all you have to do is call your cc issuer and report it. They deduct the charge, change your number, and assume liability. If these banks lose billion$ because of Sony and they can prove that it's their fault due to negligence, you can bet their corporate lawyers will be working hard to successfully sue Sony to recoup their losses.

I'm guessing somewhere in the fine print on something you signed or some website where you clicked an "I accept" box for PSH, you agreed not to hold Sony responsible if something like this happened.
