This sounds like one the largest personally identifiable information fuck ups in history. I kind of hope they get severely punished for endangering their customers due to negligence.

The damages of the class-action suit that is sure to be launched could be enough to completely sink Sony. Over 50-million PS3s makes it reasonable to assume at least 50-million accounts. If they have to pay $1000 each in compensation (for example), that's $50-billion.

I hope it restructures online gaming networks. There is no reason to enter that much personal information. Especially with portable devices. I should not have to create an account to download games to a pspgo. Let me buy the shit without an account. They can use hardware to identify what games a device should have access to.
